Have I gone crazy, or does this look like an adventure game that's actually fun?
You never played it? Its Silent Hill on the snes. There is a english patch to the japanese rom on the internet, I've played through it, very fun, many ways to die.

Just watch a youtube playthrough. It is absolutely unbearable to play. Great creepy atmosphere though - 16 bit horror can be really effective.

Not a big fan of his puzzle gaming. But, at least this one had a scary element that made the episode fresher than the Solomon Key one.

Don't get me wrong, I love me some The Kacho, but the only thing that kept me from giving a lower rating was the fact that this game looks really fucking fun to play, albeit frustrating.
The first English port (PSX) was a cheesy fun thing, if a little too long in the daytime investigation portions.
Capcom owns the rights, and made a spiritual sequel called Haunting Ground. Quite good too, sadly it came out during the Resident Evil 4 days, and nobody wants to play real horror games in consoles anymore.

The dog following simulator?

I'm uhh....going to have to go with Resident Evil 4 being better.

It's your miss not playing with her in the cowgirl outfit.

Big Muddy
I played through 2/3rds on an emulator and it started to glitch badly. Could be worth another shot one day if it were on Virtual Console . A handheld port would be smashing!
Did yu play it in Japanese, or is there a translated version I'm missing? I've had a copy of this game sitting around for ages, and I've wanted to play the hell out of it, but my Japanese is limited to porn words and handy airport phrases involving ham smuggling.
