His 1967 set was very punk rock.

Oscar Wildcat - 2011-10-04
It must be said; his keyboard player had some sweet chops.
|
Cena_mark - 2011-10-04 I believe that's Fred Rogers you're talking about. He composed most of the music on his show.

A secular saint, untainted.
|
MrBuddy - 2011-10-04 Actually... he was... um... an ordained Presbyterian minister, but other than that I agree with you!
|
cognitivedissonance - 2011-10-05 No, I meant that he has yet to be exposed as a fraud. Charles Schulz was close to one until the most recent biography explained what a passive-aggressive little bitch he was.
|
deadpan - 2011-10-05 I'm surprised you thought that about Schultz: every panel of Peanuts was absolutely dripping with bitter cynicism. Once you got past the delightfully simple artwork that comic was a fifty-year-long poison pen letter to the entire universe.
|
Anaxagoras - 2011-10-05 Yeah, but the animated features (which were most people's main exposure to the Peanuts) whitewashed the whole affair & made the Peanuts gang oddly cheerful.

|
yogarfield - 2011-10-06 i would rather read hagar the horrible than peanuts. fuck that asinine bullshit in a rather hard, horrible manner.

Robin Kestrel - 2011-10-04
A genuinely good man who understood how to communicate with children.

dead_cat - 2011-10-04
You may not really have been a former human killing machine for the Navy, Mr. Rogers, but you were my neighbor.
|
Jet Bin Fever - 2011-10-04
One of the greatest men ever. He will always hold a special place in my heart.

yogarfield - 2011-10-05
i liked it even though it felt like a history of my own futuredeath.

Mr. Bad Example - 2011-10-05
There's a story that once Mr. Rogers' car was stolen. It was returned two days later, unharmed, with a note on the dash reading "If we'd known it was yours, we never would have taken it".
It's probably not true, but by God, it *should* be.

Anaxagoras - 2011-10-05
Growing up I had always assumed that Mr. Rogers was just playing a role, like the people in all the other kids shows. Consequently, I never watched much of him.
I missed out on something great while growing up. =(

I'm not sure about being neighbors with someone who steals traffic lights.
Good thing he gave it back, though.
