Better take your money from them now guys, or they'll take it from you.

Dread Pirate Roberts - 2011-10-05

God dammit....

You know, each day, I seem to see a new story in the news that convinces me we're heading towards a society much like that seen in "Children of Men."

Bank of America is shitty and all, but if you want to close your account just walk to a branch and do it without cameras and bullhorns.

spikestoyiu - 2011-10-05

But I have a very diminutive voice.

SolRo - 2011-10-05

If you want to protest, do it without protesting!

Oscar Wildcat - 2011-10-05

Yes, but after being fee'd to death by them, wouldn't it be _preferrable_ to do it with a bullhorn and a few hundred friends?

namtar - 2011-10-05

Exactly it's a protest, is it really surprising that protesters were not allowed inside?

Bank of America is a shitty bank, but be for real.

What fees would you be charged anyway? Most banks don't charge account closing fees unless it's 6 months or less since the account was opened.

TeenerTot - 2011-10-05

In a related video...A SWAT team apparently turned away legitimate customers there as well...

My very first bank account was with Bank of America. I recall that they made me pay them .50 every I used their ATM. They had my account, and charged me to draw the money out of the account via their own machines.

Anywho, I got tired of this and discovered that so many other banks didn't have this ludicrous charge, so I went to one of them and completely forgot about my Bank of America account...I just let it sit with and some change in it.

Six months later, I decide I want my , so I go to withdraw it at the very same branch I opened the account at.

"Oh...that account was closed due to dormancy"

"...... But I never told anyone to close it"

"Yes but if you leave it without activity for 90 days or more it becomes dormant and gets closed. You can keep it open for a fee."

"Ummm...k........ so where's my ?"

"....... the account was closed"

".......SO WHERE'S MY ?"

".......let me get my supervisor"

Anyway to make a long story short I went through this same loop with the supervisor and ended up getting told if I didn't leave I'd be escorted out by security since I didn't have an account there and was "tresspassing".

I never got my .

Ursa_minor - 2011-10-05

Dear god, man. That is ridiculous.

RocketBlender - 2011-10-06

Christ, that's actually worse than the South Park that was mocking them.

grimcity - 2011-10-06

Damn dairyqueen, that's just insanity! I've never had any situations with the little local bank I use, I just can't imagine that crap!

hammsangwich - 2011-10-05

This is why I use a credit union. I don't really see the point of banks in the realm of personal finance.

Raggamuffin - 2011-10-06

^This^

Jet Bin Fever - 2011-10-06

Just switched to a local credit union this week from Regions after they started the charge bullshit. Not that I had much money in it anyway, but still.

TeenerTot - 2011-10-06

Ugh. Regions.
When I opened an account with them, I got free checking and even some interest on the checking account monies. The interest steadily dwindled, then disappeared, then the fees began. I closed that account just a few weeks ago.

jangbones - 2011-10-05
