I shot a few other clips from last night, including one of the many indiscriminate pepper sprayings that occurred: http://www.youtube.com/user/toastycake942?feature=mhee

We were blocking an intersection, but the pepper spray wasn't used until after everyone was on the sidewalk. Victims included said pregnant lady, a blind woman, a child, and this 84 year-old woman: http://www.seattlepi.com/local/komo/article/Elderly-woman-priest-p epper-sprayed-during-2271197.php

Our legal observer, who stayed about 10 feet away from the action at all times and is the sweetest girl I know, got sprayed directly in the face multiple times just for being part of the crowd.

Kilo147 - 2011-11-16

Son of a bitch, I missed all the action? Was this just last night? (Tuesday the 15th)

wackyakmed - 2011-11-16

Yeah. The police were incredibly hostile compared with past marches. It really caught us off guard. Mayor McGinn took a lot of heat over this, though, so hopefully he'll rein SPD in.

wackyakmed - 2011-11-16

...and Russia Today just edited my videos into a nice, condensed segment which I would have posted if I'd had it an hour ago:

fatatty - 2011-11-16

I wonder how the Teabaggers feel now that the Russian Media is having a field day covering our public servants abusing our citizens.

dead_cat - 2011-11-18

As if the Teabaggers have any sense of historical context.

memedumpster - 2011-11-16

I can't watch these videos anymore. It just makes me want to commit violence. Five stars for you though.

dr_rock - 2011-11-16

I'm with you. I am not for/against the occupy movements, but seeing cops being more indiscriminately more violent makes my blood boil.

wackyakmed - 2011-11-16

The police reaction doesn't make me angry. I can understand a misguided authoritarian mindset, where someone disrespecting their authority by breaking a narrow conception of law must be punished.

What makes my blood boil is the number of people who look at a video like this and say, "that pregnant woman is a bad mother. What did she expect to happen by showing up at a nonviolent protest?" That kind of acquiescence to militarized police tactics in a country that supposedly prides itself on liberty makes me sick.

baleen - 2011-11-16

The 84 year old woman is a fringe mayoral candidate.
I wonder how getting sprayed in the face will effect her media presence?

memedumpster - 2011-11-16

I envy that. It's my misguided authoritarian mindset that wants to see these cops strung up naked and shot due to my narrow conception of how fascism should be responded to. Since I'm no better, I have to try and not make myself worse. I'm already so polarized I'm seeing less people everyday as humans deserving of existence. I'm the enemy too, so I'm trying to stay the hell out of it now.

Hank Friendly - 2011-11-16

tell me do you see, memedumpster, lifes so hard on a nigga when you livin like a G?

Jet Bin Fever - 2011-11-16

Awesome job Chris. Keep up the good fight my brother.

fatatty - 2011-11-16

Also I think it's worth mentioning that the OWS crackdown is being coordinated by the Department of Homeland Security.

Didn't take long to turn it's attention from the war on terror to political dissidents. But who could have seen that coming?

crfog - 2011-11-16

The Department of Homeland Security deserves hundreds and hundreds of stars for evil. Alas, I have only five to give.

Cena_mark - 2011-11-16

Cool. I'm part of Homeland Security. I'll proudly claim those stars.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2011-11-16

Cena if you are okay with a pregnant woman being pepper sprayed or an 80 year old woman, and you are not just trying to get attention through trolling, then you're nothing but a pussy.

Cena_mark - 2011-11-16

I'm not okay with it, but I'd advise pregnant women to stay off of roller coasters and away from protests.

Cena_mark - 2011-11-16

If it makes you feel any better I'm required to get pepper sprayed in order to qualify for the boarding team. So I'll get mine one of these days.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2011-11-17

I love you Cena, but calling yourself a part of the Dept of Homeland Security is embarassing.

Just stop, please. We get it, you joined the Coast Guard and are adamantly proud of doing so; god love you for that. Just stop the attention whoring, k? :)

dead_cat - 2011-11-18

Cena, let me know which day it is, and I will personally fly out and beat my way to the head of the line of people waiting to spray you in the face.

Cena_mark - 2011-11-16

I don't see what the big deal is. The mother got pepper sprayed not the fetus.

Corpus Delectable - 2011-11-16

That's because you're a mental incompetent and an asshole. I don't see what the big deal is.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2011-11-16

If that was your sister you would be in jail for kicking that cop's ass right now.

Cena_mark - 2011-11-16

I'm joking here. You libs and your lack of humor.

dead_cat - 2011-11-18

Yeah, it's not like pregnant women ever miscarry because of some shitfucker's stupidity.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2011-11-16

oh thank God, now we are safe.

Gojira1000 - 2011-11-16

Freedom smells like pepper spray.

Longshot- - 2011-11-17

I'm not fully understanding this occupy movement I guess.

I live here in Seattle, and I attend Seattle Central every day. The protesters have put themselves up on the front lawn of our school. Now they wreak our bathrooms and hand out fliers, (which quickly become litter) and mess up the place.

Why in this great city would the 99% post up and hassle the rest of us 99%? Why not post up in front of city hall, or someplace where the 1% will see your message?

This is why I'm not on board with this movement yet, There is no one clear message. I see why the police push back, the protesting group is very unorganized. It makes them weak and the police use that against them.

I might be more on board with this if the protesters would move to an area of the city that actually meant something. A place where the 1% can see what's going on. Seattle Central is not the place to camp.

sven - 2011-11-17

Well, you don't want to hang out around the 1% in the middle of prole hunting season.

cognitivedissonance - 2011-11-17

Who are you again, Longshot? Oh, why hello there, Craiglist-hired anti-dissident internet poster! Hope you're paid well for the betrayal.

dead_cat - 2011-11-18

The police will serve and protect you into an early grave, citizen, as designed.
