I had this video and the rocket ship gun you would shoot the tv with. They were cheap at Pick n' Save.

I am erroneously not ashamed to admit that I loved this shit.

The sound effect at 5:24 is shockingly familiar; one of the speeder sounds from Return of the Jedi? I am surprised Lucasfilm didn't sue the pants off these guys.

Oh THA SUGAH RAIN, we implore you to give us your wisdom: what drugs do we need to make this more awesome?

I had this tape when I was a tiny child-thing. It only occurs to me now that in the first half, Captain Power encourages you to blow up Chicago.

Even at that age, it struck me as odd that Captain Power never seemed to fucking do anything. He just kind of flew around while ordering you to take out every target yourself. Maybe he got to be Captain by sending every talented subordinate in the fleet on suicide missions so there was no chance of anyone getting promoted from below him.

Anyway, the glowing red targets looked incredibly trippy on VHS. On Youtube they just look like static, which is weird. You would spend 15 minutes shooting the red targets while avoiding the yellow fireballs and their obnoxious "BWEEEEEEEEEEE" sound effect. If you hit five targets in a row without getting hit, you'd attain...wait for it...MAXIMUM POWER POINTS.

What did this mean? Well, if you had Maximum Power Points, your toy plane would make a little noise.

That first guy who talks was the original Templeton Peck on the A-Team pilot. Fell fast.

Fun fact - J. Michael Straczynski wrote 13 of the episodes of the actual show. I had the toy as a kid - some of the eps were damn near impossible (everything counted as a hit, even though there was nothing shooting at you) while most were just lightgun cakewalks. Still made for fun viewing.
