Where did George got the idea that he knows what black audiences want?

cognitivedissonance - 2012-01-27

When he became determined to Oscar-pander like his buddy Steve.

Ursa_minor - 2012-01-27

Goddamnit, the days where they'd restore a bunch of planes to shoot a movie are over. Catch 22 basically saved the B-25 from going extinct. CG dogfights are garbage.

bluebeetle - 2012-01-27

The creator of the Boondocks wrote this. Just some context.

Quad9Damage - 2012-01-27

Okay... so let me get this straight. The man who created a show based around his loathing of black popular culture wrote this. He wrote a 'serious' movie where every character appears to be Granddad's WWII fighter pilot buddy from that one episode.

Hammer Falls - 2012-01-27

More correctly, Lucas hired him to flesh out the story.

sosage - 2012-01-27

It's likely going to wind up Lucas hired fall guys to take the credit for his shitty work.

MurgatroidMendelbaum - 2012-01-28

When I first saw the long-form trailer, that episode was the first thing that came to mind. Now I don't feel so racist. 5 stars for that.

garcet71283 - 2012-01-27

Its the 40s and they talk like its the 00's HISTORY FUCK YEAH AMERICA

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2012-01-27

Back in the early 90s there was a show called Homefront and it brilliantly portrayed post WWII life through various white and black characters. It got a lot right in terms of describing the frustration of living as an African American in a society that you sacrificed for, only to be treated as a second class citizen.

This sort of movie exemplifies the mentality that the only notable accomplishments made by blacks from that era involved blowing shit up. I can't help but feel the dialogue is hamfisted and somewhat simplistic. It's like lines of good and evil are just that easy to believe in because there is no in between and oh wait this was made by Lucas. He's retiring soon, right?

Riskbreaker - 2012-01-27

Not soon enough.

Quad9Damage - 2012-01-27

Never thought I'd see the day when a movie about the Tuskegee Airmen is advertised with a trailer that's dangerously close to using "Party Rock Anthem" for its music.

Hammer Falls - 2012-01-27

The fact that Cuba Gooding Jr. and Terrence Howard are the only people that get their name above the credits, and neither are part of the group of main characters, speaks volumes. This is Lucas' tax write-off movie. He's banking on his re-releases (in 3D!) of the first three Star Wars movies to be his moneymakers for the year.

TeenerTot - 2012-01-27

I realize the Star Wars films are his to do with as he pleases. But why does he have to fuck them up every few years?

Hammer Falls - 2012-01-27

Essentially, because he can.

Oscar Wildcat - 2012-01-27

Thanks to modern CG effects, the new Star Wars will be acted by an entirely black cast. 'cept for Vader, natch.

Hammer Falls - 2012-01-27

ahem... "NOOoooOOoooo!"

Hammer Falls - 2012-01-27

Vader will be voiced by Kevin Spacey, and Lando..., well, Ashton Kutcher.

Gojira1000 - 2012-01-27

anachronism, non-ironically = one star movie, five star evil

Cena_mark - 2012-01-27

The dubstep probably isn't in the actual film.

memedumpster - 2012-01-27

I can tell that Michael Bay not directing this really hurt the concept.

BHWW - 2012-01-27

Dialogue from the movie not included in the trailer

A Tuskagee Airman shoots down a Messerschmitt and shouts "WHO'S YOUR DADDY" as it goes down in flames but is attacked again from behind almost immediately by another German fighter causing him shout "AW HELL NAW"

After their first successful mission they all egage in fistbumps on the landing field.

Special guest star Snoop Dog as himself at a USO performance.

Jet Bin Fever - 2012-01-28

Ohhhh, they're black so I should somehow care about them.

oddeye - 2014-04-30

Jet Bin Fever doesn't care about people, despite them being black. Why are you such a racist?
