I love this stuff, it makes me sad to think there might not be any people who could even make one of these anymore.

Why can't they just burn another copy of the disc? It's legacy, sure, but someone should have the drivers somewhere.

There are definitely people that still make them. I saw them making one exactly like this on an episode of How It's Made. It's on Youtube, even. They kept mentioning that they're really expensive, but a market does exist for them.

YOU WOULDN'T STEAL A CAR, SO WHY WOULD YOU MAKE A PAINSTAKINGLY HAMMERED AND PERFECTLY DETAILED REPLICA OF A 120 YEAR OLD ALBUM?

I would totally get one.

I own an Amberola, and it still works, I'm 27 and people wonder about me.

Just get two of those and start mixing and scratching all your 19th century favorites!

Add a bittersweet monologue, and this is the soundtrack for the next outtro montage of the Coen Brothers next Raising Arizona-esque film.

Obviously, I won't be writing that screenplay.

Chalkdust - 2012-01-28

my grandparents have one of these and it still sounds lovely
