The nadir of "classic" Who. Gotta give props to Russell Davies for trying really hard to outdo it with "Love and Monsters" though.

While I'm inclined to agree, it's hard to hate the era that gave us this:

I wont defend this episode beyond saying that at least the script itself isn't broken, like the majority of the scripts in Moffat's last season. Oh, and Ace is the best companion.

Rovin - 2012-02-15

deadpan: HA HA, true, I'd forgotten all about that.

memedumpster: If by "Ace" you mean "Leela" I'm in full agreement.

StanleyPain - 2012-02-15

I never understood the hate for the McCoy era. Or this story in particular, since it was intended basically as a semi-parody of Doctor Who in and of itself.
But -2 stars for the stupid music.

memedumpster - 2012-02-15

Stanley, I wish I could find the clip from Ghost Light where the alien gets the priest to eat a banana while complaining about evolution being false.

Rovin - 2012-02-15

Ghost Light was the best story of the McCoy era. That scene was a huge reason why.

StanleyPain - 2012-02-15

Ghost Light is great...dunno whatchutalkin' bout.

Rovin - 2012-02-15

No no, I agree on Ghost Light.

sosage - 2012-02-15

I think this was a situation where someone thought they were trying to be really high concept and wound up back on the low side of the graph.

If by "Leela" you meant "Sarah Jane Smith"...but Leela was up there for obvious reasons...

Rovin - 2012-02-15

Leela wore tiny outfits, but Leela was so against Doctor Who rules that it made the actual character interesting. Bloodthirsty, primitive, and homicidal.

memedumpster - 2012-02-15

Leela and K9 both depopulated half a galaxy's worth of people.

sosage - 2012-02-15

I agree. Leela is like a Frazzetta character pasted into the stories...and it was well done. I thought they got rid of her too early.

But Sarah Jane Smith was the ultimate audience injector. There were other characters that took over the role of naive, every day person thrown into these weird adventures...but Sarah Jane Smith had the most charming sense of innocence and had great chemistry.

Ace is interesting as well, but my face is starting to itch. It's really annoying me and I can't concentrate on writing about her...OMG...Beard...Beard is...Neck Beard...overgrowing...sentient...choking me!....*

Rovin - 2012-02-16

Yeah, Sarah Jane had a believability factor in some way the others didn't.

Gmork - 2012-02-15

Cant understand malefacted voice over shitty dance beat, was genuinely curious about episode. Dissapointment ensuing.

memedumpster - 2012-02-15

You can watch the whole episode on YouTube.

Gmork - 2012-02-15

I shall. However I was endeavoring to rate this particular clip on its own merits, instead of the stupid thing I usually do which is rate the subject matter. No hard feelings.

memedumpster - 2012-02-15

None taken! I am merely fulfilling my role as a Who enabler.

Jet Bin Fever - 2012-02-15

Where's candyheadrobot to comment on this video?

Rovin - 2012-02-16

His family pranked him by dumping water and the floor for him to step in and now they're having a good laugh because he's stuck to the floor unable to reach the computer.
