When I worked for a movie theater, they decided to start promoting movies for a time by having people walk around with signs. Unfortunately, one of the movies they decided to promote was Kung Fu Hustle. They decided to promote it by having one of the dudes who worked there, who was half Asian, who happened to be Japanese, walk around in a stereotypical circular hat, Chinese lantern, and robe. They also dressed up a white girl like this, for some reason, and they walked around the neighborhood on my day off and I came across he and the cheerleader who was carrying the lantern explaining to several perplexed people why they were doing this. They thought it was funny because they were promoting a Chinese film and those things were Chinese. They eventually attracted a crowd of people who were telling them this was not a good idea.

I asked them whose idea this was and they said the head manager. He was from Tennessee. I tried for a while to explain this wasn't the best idea to them but they just laughed at me and then walked away.
