As someone who actually watched this a s a kid, I'd like to point out the first one followed what I think was the only clever bit of writing the production had. Cap had just woken up while WWII was going on. As he's being taken away by a journalist in a pickup truck, he sees that the truck is a German vehicle, and the tape recorder the reporter has is Japanese, so this is his master escape plan.
