Description is misleading. The narrator wasn't referring to the murder of the old lady when he said "things took a sad twist".

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-09-28

I didn't mean to imply that there was more to the story, i just thought it was a quaint use of that particular phrase.

Aelric - 2012-09-28

I found all the lingering blood shots a tad ghoulish. Maybe I'm a hypocrite since I can laugh at the laughing newscaster talking about torsos, yet find this tacky as hell.

duck&cover - 2012-09-28

Bath salts.

EvilHomer - 2012-09-28

E! can make anything tacky.

Kabbage - 2012-09-28

He kills his grandmother, then her cat, then ran to his neighbors, savagely beat both his neighbor and his painter, then leapt off a ledge and died on impact.

What in god's name was this guy on?

misterbuns - 2012-09-28

That's what he gets for eating at Fred 62. I told him they had bad nights for calamari. I says to him I says "stick to House of Pies, brah." Now this. Another night in Los Feliz.

(ps C2-i has been around for years)

Blue - 2012-09-29

Is that the same thing as 2C-I? Who the fuck calls it "smiles"?

Why would you think it was that? First of all, you don't have to be "on" something to do something like this. Many people are just mentally ill.

I've been on lots of really bad trips. I've taken every psychedelic I could get my hands on, and even a few that I couldn't. (stuff passed off as LSD) I have never, ever done something I regretted because I was on any psychedelic. Even when I didn't know who I was or what was going on I still had inhibitions preventing me from doing dangerous stuff.

Did you know that 50% of the people that commit violent crimes do so under the influence of the same drug? It's fucking alcohol. Every goddamn time I've gotten drunk I've done something stupid and/or dangerous. Maybe we should blame that shit. Even if he was on something else that gave him the idea, it's still the fucking alcohol that made it possible for him to act on it.

Alcohol is fucking evil. The only difference between alcohol and most illegal drugs is that alcohol overdoses and alcohol related murders are so common that they aren't considered news.

Aelric - 2012-09-29

I personally think that regardless of drugs you take, your base mental state will be reflected and magnified (or in some cases diminished) when you are high. I will never drop acid again myself because I have way too much self loathing combined with an expressive attitude most the time that turned into screaming into the forest what a worthless fuck I am and trying to eat some real worm worms. Luckily I was in the woods with friends or god knows.

Yet I know other that take more than I ever dared and act the same as they do sober. It's all seems base mental state. So I guess I'm agreeing with you. Except that I don't think that psychedelics are somehow immune to freakout.

Kabbage - 2012-09-29

It just seems like nobody would be able to go this far unless they had somehow lost their minds. Drugs would probably be the most likely way that this happened.

I know people commit murder and such while perfectly sober all the time, but this is just too... absurd. His grandmother, then her CAT. Then he runs to his neighbors and beats him to a pulp. Then leaps off a ledge and kills himself. Why the cat? Why his neighbor? Why commit suicide?

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-09-29

Acid fucked me up good. I had a bad acid trip a at Rolling Stones concert that was so terrifying that I had panic attacks for decades. In retrospect, it was probably PTSD. But I've never heard of anyone being violent, outside of urban legend stories of babysitters putting babies in the oven because they thought they were turkeys.

Blue - 2012-09-29

I'm not saying that people don't have freakouts, they do. When they do, it doesn't look like this. People do stuff like this on stimulants sometimes. They don't do this sort of thing on psychedelics, unless there's alcohol involved. Suspecting drugs isn't unreasonable, suspecting this drug is.

More so than acid, by the way. This stuff feels a lot more like E than acid. (unless it's some other drug, which it probably is)

Maru - 2012-09-30

Acid doesn't prepare you for 2ci, 25i, or any of that shit. The intensity of it makes acid look like baby drugs. I was flooded with all the worst, most stereotypical, bad trip impulses on 25i that I never came anywhere near having on acid.

Blue - 2012-09-30

According to Erowid, it's likely 25i. I'm guessing you didn't murder someone. I don't know how I missed this on my first viewing, but this dude had a history of criminal behavior including assault with a deadly weapon. If you're that kind of person, you probably shouldn't experiment with such substances. You definitely shouldn't drink alcohol either. More so.

But here's the reason that the horrible tragedies on psychedelics are almost always urban legends, while the tragedies on alcohol are not: You did 25i. It fucked with you and you didn't like it. You had a trip sitter, right? You took a small dose for your first time, right? You knew something might go wrong, and when it did, you quit.

I drank regularly for years before I had that experience on alcohol. It came out of the blue. One day I just drank too much and found out that I probably shouldn't be drinking. I had to quit drinking.

You don't have fond memories of doing 25i with your buddies. You don't have to find new friends and set up a new routine to escape it. You aren't addicted to it. 25i had exactly one chance to send you on a killing spree, and you saw it coming. That's why, even with the dangers as real as they are, we don't have a baby in the microwave epidemic.

Bets are off for people that are violent sober, though.

Maru - 2012-10-01

Well, I'm a tough guy so I did it "alone" (I got one of my friends to stay up with me all night on the phone after the trip went all hellscape), but yeah, I'm probably never going to do it again. Hallucinogens aren't generally black-out drugs so every inch of good or bad you get from them is going to be recalled with relative clarity.

I know that alcohol is worse, probably even worse in the final accounting than truly satanic shit like jimson weed, but there's something to be said for drugs in general that don't induce a terrifying psychotic episode the second you stop thinking about rainbows.

Corpus Delectable - 2012-09-28

Loving the Valley accents of all the news and police personnel. "Like, Omigod! I totally knew that weirdo was gonna go all weee-urrd!"

misterbuns - 2012-09-28

Nugga was rentin. Big money hustlahhh.

Scientology Celebrity Centre appearance at 2:17.

kingarthur - 2012-09-28

Katie Perry used to be cute.

dementomstie - 2012-09-28

If you want to hate the reporters more: Here's a really nice article about how everyone should think more about the victim than the accused killer(because it's still innocent until proven guilty)
http://www.xojane.com/it-happened-to-me/catherine-davis-murder ed-by-sons-of-anarchy-actor-johnny-lewis

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-09-29

Well, "innocent until proven guilty" is supposed to apply to someone who is charged with a crime. It's supposed to protect innocent people from being convicted. I don't think it applies to dead people.

this looks like it could have used some editing, and maybe a little perspective. And the title sucks.

I think we're going to be hearing a lot more about this.

Sudan no1 - 2012-09-29

Thank you for that article, dementomstie.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-09-29

It looks like a good article, though it seems a little self serving (headshot of the actor who wrote it, next to the title: "I WAS A DEAR FRIEND")

EvilHomer - 2012-09-29

More tha

EvilHomer - 2012-09-29

More than a little self-serving. It's certainly interesting, and gives us a neat perspective on what happened, but God help me, I kinda wish the author had been murdered too.

EvilHomer - 2012-09-29

What the hell happened there?!

garcet71283 - 2012-09-28

Personally, I think Predator did it.

Billy the Poet - 2012-09-29

The Predator wouldn't kill a cat. It must have been Xenu.

memedumpster - 2012-09-29

Alf.

EvilHomer - 2012-09-29

For memedumpster.

fulakarp - 2012-09-30

When this kind of thing happens, why do newscasters invariably call the drugs involved "new"? Is it that hard to google something? I'm not sure why that always pisses me off, but it does.
