Badass. My favorite seen in this movie is the one where one of these guys takes some old-ass 1950s plane so high up into the atmosphere that for a moment he can see outer space through the canopy.
I also like the leather helmets. Reminds me of one the best things I heard in the Army: "we're all going to die, but I have a helmet!"
That might have been Yeager too, he went 21 miles up in a rocket boosted F-104. IMHO that scene is a good analogy for his frustration at being shut out of the space program because NASA didn't want astronauts who took such independent risks.
I LOVE this movie. My dad took me to see it in the theater, and at 10 years old, I was completely enthralled and amazed.
My Grandma lived in Tucson, and EVERY time we visited I insisted my dad take me to the Pima air & space museum. Last time pop & I went out to Tucson, it was to pack up grandma's house after she died. We also went to Pima.
