I've been trying to get people to watch this for years. It's worth it.

Stars for the evil people. Aside from their cultural significance, which is indeed important, the world would be a better place without these people in it. Also, agree with Old Z that the film is exploitative, complete with shock-and-awe loud shitty metal music ruining at least half of the documentary.

I've lived in WV since I was 10. I kind of have a love/hate relationship with the state. Anyway, I tried watching this a while back on Netflix and just couldn't finish it. It's just too close.

Kind of boring pill popper story. There's also some dancing.

Drug-addled, loathsome, criminal scum suffering from their own choices. Five stars.

I grew up near here. I know these people are horrible, but understand this is one part of the country where the white people have been screwed over almost as much as minorities everywhere else. There's been generation upon generation of economic warfare, and real warfare when that failed (read about the whiskey rebellion and WV mine wars, off the top of my head). They didn't end up like this by accident.

... the Appalachian MOUNTAINS themselves, not the Appalachian inhabitants. I think you knew what I meant, but just making sure.
