This poester has never owned or shot a gun. But, thanks to this interview, I went and spent on an NRA membership. Piers Morgan also managed to further confirm my conservative views. He really has no clue why the constitution has a second amendment. It's beyond comprehension to me how completely without common sense the left can be.

Toenails - 2013-01-11

Never change Enjoy.

Also, "poester". Yeah, I totally wanted to use that moniker too.

StanleyPain - 2013-01-11

It's funny so many people think that Piers Morgan is somehow the one voice of the millions of people in this country who want better gun control. Is this like when conservatives kept calling Michael Moore fat thinking it would make all liberals everywhere go and weep in a corner for their fallen idol? If a journalistic embarrassment like Morgan made you go out and buy an NRA membership, you're a fucking moron. Seriously, if some kneejerk reaction to a filthy LIEBERAL saying things that made you uncomfortable is what drives your life decisions than you deserve nothing less than to have your money taken from you by a joke organization that is still trying to steer the national dialogue on guns into a cul de sac talking about 20 year old video games and rap music. Piers Morgan is not a voice for "the left", he's a fucking TV personality whose last gig was American Idol for fuck's sake.
So if "common sense" to you means talking about gun violence in this country like an 8-year old being threatened that his Transformers toys are being taken away, then by all means, go down that road; that's what America is all about, the freedom to be as fucking retarded as you want to be. Then are those of us who actually want to have an adult conversation and find adult solutions to the epidemic of violence in this country that your side won't even admit exists, much less address in any remotely sane manner without coming off like sociopaths from the most cartoonish "militia" movements of the 90s.

EvilHomer - 2013-01-11

As a non gun owning poester, I too gave serious thought to getting an NRA membership in the wake of the Sandy Hoax shooting.

But then they badmouthed Mortal Kombat, so fuck them.

Hay Belly - 2013-01-12

I just refused to eat beef, better go out and eat a hamburger Enjoy. Oh, I just did it again, and will do it again tomorrow so you better get moving.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2013-01-12

I'm agreeing completely with Enjoy. I don't own a gun but I fully support Ben Shapiro's argument. I've been making it for weeks now. I'm glad not only to see someone call Piers out on all of his bullshit but to echo the sentiment that the original intent of the 2nd Amendment has not diminished in importance.

Fuck Piers Morgan. He's a pretentious, snobby dipshit and he's no better than Bill O'Reilly in the way he completely ignores reality. In fact I'm wondering if they were separated at birth.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2013-01-12

also, I interpreted what Enjoy was saying as buying a membership to the NRA was in support of gun rights on a whole rather than a direct reaction just to Piers Morgan.

EvilHomer - 2013-01-12

Spirit stars for you, ROUS!

Adham Nu'man - 2013-01-12

Guys, let me honestly break it to you: you are NOT going to defend yourselves against the government. It's not gonna happen. Sorry, I really wished you could defend yourselves from a tyrannical government with your sheer guts and cute little firearms stockpile; it's a nice concept, in theory, I admit, it sound really cool, but it ain't happening.
You can stockpile all the full auto rifles you want and cans of Chef Boyardee pasta and power bars and grenades and whatever fucking survival gear you want, they have airplanes and tanks and laser guided missiles and top notch training. They are THE MOST POWERFUL ARMY ON EARTH.

Sure, I know what you're thinking, they still get their ass regularly handed out to them in guerrilla warfare scenarios by small, armed resistance groups.
True, true, but those resistance groups... They ain't you. The Taliban and those desert people, they are a lot tougher than you... They are survivors, you post on poetv, you eat microwave food: You ARE NOT A SURVIVOR.
Seriously, next time you get this idea that you are going to resist a tyrannical government with your weapons, go stand in front of a mirror and look at yourself in the eyes, and picture yourself and all the people you know who own guns, fighting the army, just picture it in your head... Try not to get a hard-on.

Paracelsus - 2013-01-12

Read it more carefully, with an eye toward historical context. What purpose does a well-regulated and well-ordered militia serve? Local security in a time when government entities cannot serve that function. What purpose does gun ownership serve in that context? A tool you likely use anyway for hunting does its public duty now and then in a local muster.

After Lincoln, the idea of a local militia is fundamentally different, and the current antifederal sensibility has its roots in a deep-seated desire to separate from larger government in a global sense; believing in its imminent doom and preparing for this event in variously silly and shortsighted ways. Millenial thinking of this kind is the ultimate resignation from the debate over the issues that matter, and is a kind of taking your toys and going home. In this case the toys are technically sophisticated single-purpose products designed to kill large amounts of human beings.

Cheese - 2013-01-12

So, did you go for the knife or the duffle bag?

baleen - 2013-01-12

I have nothing against guns. All my family members are probably more leftwing than I am and they own guns.

Oh, and stop trolling, Enjoy.

Blue - 2013-01-12

You're a dumbfuck and you should oppose the NRA. Whenever people start talking about reasonable restrictions that treat guns like cars the NRA keeps telling us that the left wants a blanket gun ban.

Do you really want them to keep saying that? It's not fucking true, but if they repeat it enough it very well might become true. Seriously, do you really think they'd support pro gun Democrats?

I mean seriously do you really think we should ban guns? Cause that's what they're saying. They're okay with banning constitutionally protected stuff, it's just that we think that people should blame video games instead. Even assuming that it is, in fact, the late 90s, how long do you really think people are going to fall for that? I'm in my early 30s. People younger than me that have jobs and mortgages can't even remember a time when videogames were a kid thing.

Oh, and there's also the question of anybody believing we should ban video games but not guns. We can ban both, and I don't think that anyone ever will ever think that banning video games first is the best way to go about it.

Cena_mark - 2013-01-11

The clarify what Enjoy said, "If Pierce Morgan takes my guns away I'll have nothing to compensate my small penis with."

Comeuppance - 2013-01-12

I would like to preface this by saying I have absolutely no concern over any impending tyranny.

It's hard to defend the second amendment's initial intentions without seeming slightly insane and/or paranoid. It is true that the first thing a burgeoning tyrant would do is hamper the capability of the masses to resist, and that it would be gradual and seem innocent - for example, the banning of certain weapons due to shootings.

However, it seems ridiculous to assert that the couple hundred thousand assault weapon owners would be in any position to resist our military by the time resistance seemed necessary. Surely, by that time, something akin to martial law would be in effect, there would be a significant urge to resist, and there would have to be violent actions being taken against dissenters.

What the fuck kind of tyranny would still have anything like the second amendment by that point? Your guns would have been taken away long beforehand. Even if they hadn't, the military has drones, tanks, missiles, airborne precision gunfire, etc - things that no amount of drum-fed machine guns are going to stop. The second amendment has its roots in a time when ground infantry and cannons were all you had to worry about, and some dipshit with a rifle might be just as well-equipped as someone in the military.

I don't really have a point I'm trying to make. Just a thought.

FABIO - 2013-01-12

It's also ignoring the historical trend hat burgeoning fascist movements WANT violent armed civilian thugs on their side to rough up and intimidate any who disagree. By winding up a crazed band of armed followers, they get to enjoy all the fruits of their efforts (the Gifford shooting being the most recent example) while maintaining total deniability (shooters are just "bad apples" and "guns are just a tool").

Gun nuts care about as much for mass shooting victims as pro-lifers care about murdered doctors.

Comeuppance - 2013-01-12

That's a bit of an exaggeration, I would say. Pro-lifers might secretly (or openly) like the fact that an abortion clinic doctor was murdered, but I doubt that gun enthusiasts would have any inclination to relish the murder of innocents. In fact, such shootings have a direct negative impact on them, and would in fact care quite a bit.

So, I really don't know what you're trying to say with that.

Gmork - 2013-01-12

FABIO you obviously have no fucking clue what you're talking about. The statistics on how many other countries get away with murdering their own citizens as a natural consequence of attempting to disarm them.

Maru - 2013-01-12

This guy is some kind of super-twerp. Holy shit. I don't want to hear another republican talk about "liberal smarm" ever again.

gmol - 2013-01-12

I think you can see that Piers wanted to just sort of toss the book aside and realized that would be a bad idea.

Hooker - 2013-01-12

Piers Morgan talks to the symbolic figurehead of far-right conservatism in America: a hyperactive 14-year-old.

longwinded - 2013-01-12

seriously

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2013-01-12

I think by that you actually meant "a runway model with sexy eyebrows"

Gmork - 2013-01-12

Ben Shapiro destroys Piers Morgan with facts - poetv regulars unsure how to handle being wrong.

Gmork - 2013-01-12

You guys have a profound loss of perspective. We're all mostly liberals here but it's really depressing to know just how little you all use critical thinking on the subject of gun control. You're as knee-jerk about guns and as myopically righteous about it as the most irredeemably convinced fundamentalist.

Gmork - 2013-01-12

Lets never consider how it's about how someone can GET to the point of wanting to murder people - lets just ignore that aspect and make laws that wouldnt have affected the Sandy Hook killings anyways (rifle laws - no rifles were used in sandy hook, the rifle they keep talking about NEVER LEFT THE CAR SEAT).

So yeah boo evil handguns, since they were used for evil that must make every use of them evil in any and all circumstances. I dont see anyone except the most rabid anti-gun people clamoring to get rid of handguns. But that's what killed 22 children. Not a rifle. Not one bullet from a rifle.

The point isnt that OH LOOK YOU WERE WRONG ABOUT WHAT GUN the point is that the thing theyre using this polarizing event for is to get rid of guns that didn't even play any part in the shooting in the first place other than being stuffed in an evidence bag.

Before Picard could do anything, Data used the Vulcan nerve pinch on him. [Still perfect at it!] Data's cock sprung out of confinement as he unsealed his uniform and eased Picard to the floor under him. Opening the captain's mouth, he rammed his penis into it, starting a steady rhythm.

As Data became more and more excited, a small drop of cum formed at the tip of his penis and fell into Jean-Luc's mouth, touching his tongue and being absorbed into the bloodstream. As Picard spasmed, in cardiac arrest, Data marvelled at the gifts his father had so casually bestowed on him.

Data was able to make his cum any flavor he wanted to--lemon, peppermint, hot chocolate, Earl Grey Tea--so of course he could synthesize any molecules he wanted to include. These included several highly toxic compounds.

he loosed several wads into Picard's mouth before pushing off and letting the rest impinge on the carpet, creating a dark brown stain. Almost in a stupor from emotional overload,he collapsed onto the floor, laughing softly.

Gmork - 2013-01-12

Piers is grasping at straws - what a pompous, interrupting twat.

Comeuppance - 2013-01-13

If Piers Morgan, Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, and Alex Jones entered the same room, none of them would ever get more than three words in sequence before being interrupted by a different deluded yet mystifyingly listened-to pile of interrupting shit.
