What makes this 3D, exactly?

Old_Zircon - 2013-02-03 I'ts binaural, which means the average listener will hear movement on the y and z axes in addition to the x axis (which is the only dimension normal stereo mixes can produce; depth is faked with mixing techniques but you can't create vertical dimension or sounds coming from BEHOND the listener without binaural recording). If your head size or shape deviates too far from average, it doesn't work as well. JUST SAYIN, PUNKINHEAD

I remember getting Thief: The Dark Project with my Sound Blaster card back sometime in the 90s and it having lots of test samples sort of like this one. Nothing quite so goofy though,sadly.
