Someone should explain why this should be interesting or relevant, I've wasted like three minutes watching the video, thinking stuff or pondering whether I should just go to sleep, and I still don't know.

Binro the Heretic - 2013-02-03 See, this videogame company tried to crowdsource a game that's supposed to be, like, part RTS and part RPG but they didn't raise enough money so the guy in charge fired a bunch of people who were going to make the game and gaming news sites have been going apeshit and I have no fucking idea why, really.
Yeah, they couldn't get money to make a game, so they're not going to make the game.

StanleyPain - 2013-02-04 I can sort of explain. Gas Powered Games has, for years, been a relatively well respected company who made, once upon a time, some games that are generally well remembered. Like many studios, they've been hurting financially because of over-hiring and spending way too much and resources in developing an MMO that would ultimately fail to the WoW maket (in their case, Demigod).
They started a kickstarter campaign to fund their latest announced game, but as it turns out, the kickstarter was actually an act of desperation to fund the company itself which basically fired 90% of its workforce only a few days after the kickstarter was launched.
Note: this wasn't your average kickstarter where a company was looking for a 5 or 6 digit figure to help fund something...GSP was hoping to raise *millions* of dollars in the span of something like a week. I dunno why it warrants this shitty video, but the story itself is pretty interesting just from the standpoint of how this guy basically assumed the best idea to help the company would be betting everything on some Hail Mary thing on kickstarter.
