HAHA there is no fucking way a leaf blower is 100 decibels a mile away. Some of these people are just insane. Four to six hours of constant leaf blowing around "our property?" I find that really hard to believe.

That said, I hate noise pollution, so go crazy, white people.

Godzilla just needs to stomp the shit out of these people, and then Gamera can piss on the radioactive remains.

I hate wind blowers too. I use these fucking insane things called a rake and a broom. The best thing about them is they don't coat all the plants around me with a layer of gasoline.

I read on the EPA's stats page that lawn care equipment is responsible for 5-9% of air pollution in America, which is disgusting.

That being said, I hate these people.

I grew up one town over from Orinda and this video captures it perfectly. "I don't like that the people payed to clean our yards are noticeable."

This town is desperately begging to be attacked by a horde of Vikings. Just tearing through town on big Harley Davidson motorbikes chopping off heads and tying them to their handlebars by the hair. Rape and pillage. All the while these people's children will be cheering with joy, knowing that they are free and witnessing something beautiful.

ANGER

Listen. The streets are named
Dias Dorados, Linda Vista, El Sereņo.
There are orchards of oak, sycamores.
And birds. Yes. They fly like memory.
Once, quiet and singing,
the moon like a song

I think leaf blowers suck too, but this is Orinda so, of course, it's just one of a string of dumb, first-world problems that a bunch of privileged cunts turn into this week's OMG THINK OF THE CHILDREN scare. I think it's less about the blowers and more about the Mexicans.

Wow, a community action huh? Who woulda' thunk it. Maybe instead of sending some passive-aggressive letter, they should go talk to their neighbors in person about it. I guess that's too much of a risk though... because you might encounter a leaf-blowing Mexican, or an uncomfortable conversation with someone you've probably never met. Oh rich people, what aren't you afraid of?

A little geography/semi-local perspective for POETV: Orinda, Lafayette and Walnut Creek are a strip of East Bay upperclass communities (in order of highest to less high priced neighborhoods) that are sandwiched between the working class cities of Pleasant Hill/Concord (where all their gardeners live) and the tunnel that leads to Berkeley/Oakland. As you can also imagine, Orinda/Lafayette/Walnut Creek are the crown jewels for every Bay Area burglar, home invader and car thief (so if you want Karma after this video, I guess that will have to do).

Whenever these communities make a public stink, it is always over something exactly like this. This just happens to be one of the few instances where they did not straight up say, "We just don't want to associate with the lower class". Border disputes with these three cities always wind up coming down to just not wanting to be a part of the lower class community, even within the upper class totem pole.

As a side: The best thing Lafayette ever did for anyone was the controversial Iraq war memorial with the crosses, which was a statement that I *never* expected to see from someone in that community.

Short version: cunts

Aside from the doctor, my favorite part is the family retreating to their house and DRAWING THE CURTAINS SHUT as though the appearance of leaf blowers is akin to a fucking nighttime air raid.

When this happens they will be able to complain about the rising cost of garden maintenance AND the neighbours unkempt yard leaves blowing onto their property.
