That actually looks like some fun "reality" tv.

EvilHomer - 2013-02-24

Leave it to the Brits to make a reality show I might actually watch! Almost makes me want to move back there. Almost.

The press material claims it's been heavily inspired by Takeshi's Castle, and was created by a guy with lots of experience stealing Japanese game show formats and localizing them for the British market. "If it sounds too good to be true..." etc etc; but if this works, it's going to be GLORIOUS.

>inspired by Takeshi's Castle

I love me some MXC. Maybe I'll watch 1D2 episodes of this when it comes out.

IrishWhiskey - 2013-02-24

Except that if you make a show inspired by Takeshi's Castle but based on a reality dating show format, my thought is that sounds great as long as you get rid of the reality dating show format.

FABIO - 2013-02-24

Every western (the American ones anyway) remake of a Japanese show has been terrible. There's American Iron Chef and who can forget Bonzai? I forget the name but there's an American version of MXC right now and it's unbelievably awful. The makers figured having the contestants say scripted wacky things is JUST LIKE the dubbed MXC lines, and the camera work is like every bad modern action movie with nothing but closeups and quick cuts to the point where you can't see anything.

Hey, speaking of Banzai, great news! Digging further, it turns out Banzai is one of the shows this guy was responsible for!

This is going to be awesome.

"We need still more cheap unoriginal programming to attract advertising eyeballs without taking any risks. Give me some ideas."

"Uh, a reality show involving dating and challenges?"

"We already have eleven on the air and people can't tell them apart. They turn off new episodes because they think they're reruns. We need a differenciator."

"What if we throw in some dwarves, and call it 'The Littlest Groom'?"

"Fox already did it, and dwarves are expensive to hire."

"What if we cut the lighting budget completely and call it 'Dating in the Dark'?"

"ABC already did it, and it turns out people bumping into things drives our costs up."

"What if we put them in medieval costumes and called it 'My Little Princess'?"

"... technically hasn't been done yet in this regional market. Alright start production, and I'm going to need three more pitches just like it only with a pun title relating to it's irrelevant gimmick, on my desk by tomorrow morning."

Bort - 2013-02-24

From the title, I thought it was going to be about Bronies competing for some woman who's just not into it.

Old_Zircon - 2013-02-24

Now that's a reality show I'd watch. This, not so much.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2013-02-24

*sigh* Just another day in Britain.

Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2013-02-24

That's the princess? I admit, we didn't get an extended look at her, but I'm not sure I'd let myself get catapulted for her.

EvilHomer - 2013-02-24

The suitor's are after her lands and titles, not her looks.

Nikon - 2013-02-24

She's beautiful. She's rich. She's got huge ... tracts of lands.

Doomstein - 2013-02-24

I'd draw my broadsword and kill them all for her.

Of course that's not saying much, because I'd draw my broadsword and kill them all for a sandwich.

I'm now getting off the internet and getting a sandwich.

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-02-24

For England she's a solid 10.

Callamon - 2013-02-24

She's got vast tracks of land!
