When I was a kid, visiting my Grandparents' house was like going on an archaeology dig. They kept my Mom's, Aunts' and Uncle's rooms identical to the day they moved out. One of my Aunts had an old wastepaper basket in her room. It appropriated the style of 1960's populist radical art, but had a bunch of tame, pro-capitalist slogans written on it, like "Chairman Mao is a fink!"
This looks like the video game equivalent to that wastepaper basket.

How edgy. The police are human beings, just as the rioters are. The fact that civil order has broken down to the point where open conflict occurs is a tragedy that officers of the law try their hardest to prevent, as when chaos occurs, it isn't the so-called "fascists" who are harmed, but every innocent person in the path of a rampaging mob.

Lovely graphics, the other game by this guy also looked great but it really terrible.. or, maybe it wasnt terrible. It was just so vapid, it had no *game* in it. it was basically a fancy menu screen simulator.
We never really riot here in (southern) Ireland. Its always kind of shocking to see footage of riots in France and such (they seem to me to riot at the drop of a hat, like when the retirement age was raised from 60 to 62 (its 66 here for a state pension))
I think we have a lot of cultural inertia that prevents it (revolutionary state catholic church, also only recently a 1st world country)
Maybe we are spineless peons but I'm glad we dont collectively go smashing stuff for no reason. I regard that as really associated with boorish chav type culture.

Yeah, that's something they're known for, to the point where they were putting it into the French lesson videos we used when I was in high school way back in the 90s. It's springtime in Paris, that means it's student demonstration season.

FABIO - 2013-03-03 It makes me sad how propaganda has such an iron grip on us that everyone reacts to French labor laws as insanity. How dare they fight for the right to not be milked for unpaid overtime and enjoy at least a decade of retirement before being forced into a home. What a bunch of loafing socialists. Why can't they slave longer hours for less pay until they're 70 with no savings? How else are CEOs going to in 300 times a worker's pay, or the Walton family increase their net wealth by another 50% in the space of 8 years?

I'm guessing the riots with the gay pride flags are taking place in the U.S. Bible Belt or the Middle East, because I'm having a hard time imagining violence erupting over that anywhere else.

I had an idea for a game like this. A tower defense game where creeps were waves of protesting Berkeley students and you played Governor Reagan deploying campus cops, then riot police, and finally National Guard to stop even one of their demands from getting through.
