Seasons 1-3 of My Little Pony were about friendship, but Hasbro is worried that the show has gotten stale, so Season 4 is going to be about the complete breakdown of reality while maggots nest in your eyes.

Creating a character based on an animation mistake as popularized by the internet was probably one of the biggest free marketing coup Hasbro could have wished for.

It'll be interesting if they try to force a similar outcome with some future show/toy commercial. I'm sure the backlash would be fun to watch.
