I think more people, myself included, are upset at her policies than anything else. If one wishes to admire her rise in the face of the odds against a woman doing so in Britain, that's one thing, but what she did increased inequality among the populace to previously unheard of levels (and gave ideas to American conservatives to do the same), funneling wealth away from those she considered undeserving, fostering decades of misery. I dislike her for the same reasons I dislike Reagan, the Koch Brothers, and anyone else who uses their power to add to the suffering of those who have less and enrich those who are already well off.

And even then, she wasn't half the bastard that American conservatives have become. Guess who didn't even try to privatize the British health care system? Margaret Thatcher. Even she believed there should be some blessings of civilization granted to every citizen; American conservatives simply don't have Margaret Thatcher's legendary warmth.

Oh she tried, and succeeded in some cases like the care in the community scheme. Unless of course by 'every citizen' you exclude the mentally ill, the homeless, and the poor.
