I was recently asked to come up with treatments for shows about the SEC (for the uninitiated, the athletic conference of universities in Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, and more).

Some of my ideas included 1) the heartbreaking story of the first two black athletes to play in the SEC, 2) how the Mississippi State basketball team had to secretly flee the state in order to play an integrated team in the 1963 NCAA basketball tournament, and 3) that the best and longest lived conference of black schools grew up in the south because black athletes could not play for SEC schools.

Those ideas were not popular for some reason.
