You can tell this is old because working class people left their home in Manhattan.

Spaceman Africa - 2013-04-27

And we used to sleep on the beach here, sleep overnight, they don't do that anymore.

Mancakes - 2013-04-27

Yes.

Are the subways up there that fucked up still, because damn. DC's were pretty bad, but this is some straight up dystopian future shit.

Father Avalanche - 2013-04-27

My sister lives in Bensonhurst, which is about three stops from Coney Island. The trains are very nice, now. D.C.'s are still about as bad as they are here in Atlanta.

Father Avalanche - 2013-04-27

I should probably clarify that Atlanta's trains aren't necessarily grimy or dystopic by any means, it's just the whole system is shit from top to bottom.

Do I win any Internet points for getting the reference?

boner - 2013-04-27

The wide angle lens makes this look like a Terry Gilliam movie

Spike: not on this Web site, you don't. Still a sweet little tune, though.

When I took the train out to Rockaway it was clean and pleasant. I read somewhere that the chances of getting mugged on a NYC subway are now about as rare as getting struck by lightning. The cars are definitely cleaner than they used to be. When you actually get to Coney Island or Rockaway you still have to worry about getting shanked though.

Aww. But I was so close to having enough for x-ray specs.

jangbones - 2013-04-27

it took me a second to recognize Michael Musto, because he looks like everyone in the 1980s

kid, if you are going to lay on that bench, please put a shirt on

I got hepatitis just by walking on the boardwalk.

Oscar Wildcat - 2013-04-27

I got a bottle of jack daniels from a beachside vendor and a handjob under the beach blanket from a friend. Good times.

I'll never complain about Cleveland's metro rail cars again. They're older than this video (built in 1984, I believe) yet they still don't look as run-down or dystopic as the ones here.

deadpan - 2013-04-28

Ah, this takes me back. NYC is so clean today it's almost a different city.

Sorry, I couldn't go back in time and post that in the right place on the first try.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2013-04-28

Totally diggin the guy in the dress. He is apparently straight from the video description and does not give. A. Shit.
