Was this guy wearing the camera on his head? Between him moving around and the low light, all I could see was the screen.

Do any of you guys here own this? If so buy or don't buy?

RocketBlender - 2013-04-29 I backed out of the kickstarter after I got some bad vibes on it. I'd like to know what people here are thinking myself. I tend to trust opinions from Poe more.
|
Candlejackv616 - 2013-04-29 Ditto, ever since Poe steered me towards Saints Row 2 I've tended to take the opinions here more seriously than I do some gaming sites and magazines.
If you don't mind me asking, what bad vibes made you back out of it?

StanleyPain - 2013-04-29 A friend of mine got one since his company is hoping to develop for it.
So far he has said very little about it which is a bad sign. The only thing he told me is that it took hours for him to be able to run his Android games on it in dev mode.

Chocolate Jesus - 2013-04-29 It's a console that can't produce anything more complex than a cel-phone game, do you really need to be told not to buy this?
|
Candlejackv616 - 2013-04-29 Well considering how many people I've heard blowing this system before it came out like it was going to kick Microsoft and Sony's ass, Yes yes I did need to ask. Plus Im always curious to see what others here think about gaming related anything.

Give it time. The idea is there.

SolRo - 2013-04-29 It's impossible to predict.
The hardware is underpowered compared to the Big Three but the system is cheaper and more open for developers. If the companies with huge IP catalogues decide to port their classic games it might be worth it. Otherwise think the best you'd see is like a dedicated console version of Xbox marketplace indie games.

On a related note (kickstarter hype), i got my Oculus Rift last week. Overall it is works pretty well, but the resolution is WAY too low.
Playing is possible (tried TF2 for a while), but not competitively, main issue being resolution. Second issue is the relatively low panel pixel switch, leading to motion blur.
However, The immersion is phenomenal. You only see your screen, in a very wide angle, nothing else will disturb you. It is truly a break from reality, and i can see such a device being of some therapeutic use.
Seeing the Rift issues that block the Rift is the LCD panel used, and such panels are now being developed in a very high pace due to Apple's Retina push, I am very optimistic. The panel's motion blur can probably be compensated pretty well with overdrive circuitry.
The Kickstarter version however, is not very usable. I think a single 1080p panel would not be high res enough even for competitive use, seeing the current 720p sucks deeply. If they could produce an OLED 2560x1440 pixel panel for this thing it would be killer - instant pixel refresh, "infinite" contrast. I would spend over 00 right now for that device. Lawnmower Man, here we come..

Candlejackv616 - 2013-04-29 Does it give you any Virtual Boy like headaches?

|
Jet Bin Fever - 2013-04-29 Oculus Rift sounds like a terrible optical condition you could get from using something like that. No thanks, I'll wait till that shit is widespread and let others damage their eyes first.

This fella's youtube channel is worse than Marmaduke. It is also incredibly unfunny and sad.

Snakeweapon - 2013-04-29 I have no opinion on the Ouija.
