Remember to spell his name correctly when submitting the "Edward Snowden Arrested" and "Edward Snowden to be held in solitary confinement" videos.

GovtCensor - 2013-06-09

"Two-thirds of Edward Snowden dredged from ocean."

I'm not even censoring them when they call Obama a dictator now, you know. I think it's a perfectly reasonable topic of discussion. It was an automatic censor only... hell, two months ago? Something like that. How things change, ho ho ho.

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-06-09

Like Manning, they'll throw the goddamn book at him. I hope none of it sticks, but I'm also convinced that even if he doesn't go to jail, his life will be made really terrible by the people that want this shit to continue.

Sanest Man Alive - 2013-06-09

I hope a lot of someones are keeping backups for the scores of times this vid gets taken down.

memedumpster - 2013-06-09

I just watched yesterday's Maddow about the laundry list of megacorps that sucked the NSA's balls and now deny they were a part of PRISM. It's amazing to think that if justice actually somehow happened, we'd have no technology companies or government after it was done.

Pillager - 2013-06-09

Goodbye forever, martyr man!

The Great Hippo - 2013-06-09

Guys like this end up having to flee the country they love and spend the rest of their lives looking over their shoulders and freaking out every time they turn the ignition switch.

Guys like Alex Jones? Get their own radio talk show.

What a fucking world.

Maru - 2013-06-10

here here

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-06-12

Ugh, it's "Hear, hear." Fer crissakes, people, if you're going to type a word twice make sure it's the correct one.

Twitch - 2013-06-09

Where are the Snowdens of yesteryear?

Cockmaster Flash - 2013-06-09

One star for thinking that China is a reasonable place to run to for whistle blowers for freedom.

The Great Hippo - 2013-06-09

I only regret that I have but five stars to give for offsetting you.

PegLegPete - 2013-06-09

Well he's in Hong Kong which is a rather different place.

Hooker - 2013-06-09

You know more about freedom than this man, Cockmaster Flash.

Cockmaster Flash - 2013-06-09

Not really.

Hong Kong Surveillance Law Passes

Cockmaster Flash - 2013-06-09

This was a a reply to PegLegPete btw....

www.nytimes.com/2006/08/06/world/asia/06cnd-hong.html?_r=1&

PegLegPete - 2013-06-09

In the video he specifically referred to the "great firewall" - internet filtering - and mentioned the general political atmosphere. That article doesn't mention any of that, just surveillance capabilities that are undoubtedly less comprehensive than the ones right here in the USA as we have been so rudely exposed to. So really, that doesn't prove anything.

millerman13 - 2013-06-09

hey i love your videos you should submit more

Cockmaster Flash - 2013-06-09

"less comprehensive"? lol you must be operating under Snowden's definition of freedom because the Chinese seem to have more freedom to tap than the NSA does.

PegLegPete - 2013-06-09

Neither of us actually know if it's more comprehensive, seriously. However we now know a lot more about how the NSA spies on the entire fucking world - including China - thanks to Snowden. To pretend that "Snowden's definition of freedom" is the same as mainland China's - or Hong Kong's - horrible and oppressive policies is ad-hominem straw-mannery at it's finest. You just don't like him for some reason.

Cockmaster Flash - 2013-06-09

It isn't straw mannery if he fled there - he obviously finds some kind of affinity for it if he chose to go there as opposed to, say, Sweden or Iceland?

Why would he flee to China when there are so many other better options?

PegLegPete - 2013-06-09

The straw man is assuming that his definition of freedom is the same as the government of the PRC when it's clearly not. Once again, we really don't know why he didn't go somewhere else, but to insinuate that he identifies with everything that a country does just because he has fled there is misleading to put it politely. Who says he hasn't already left Hong Kong and was just staying there temporarily or misinforming his would-be assailants? If you watch the interview he talks about maybe going to Iceland - perhaps he'll be offered asylum. He stated his reasons for going to Hong Kong during the interview and we don't have any good reason to surmise that it's something other than that. You can certainly keep asking people like me who don't anything other than what Snowden said though.

simon666 - 2013-06-09

Regardless of anything said in this comment thread, a discussion about to where he fled is a red herring to the issue Snowden has raised and his reason for admitting to being the leak.

oswaldtheluckyrabbit - 2013-06-09

Snowden's Secret

cognitivedissonance - 2013-06-09

Our dreamiest whistle blower.

bac - 2013-06-09

I think I heard again this is THINK, I heard that one of the reasons he's going to hong-kong is that he has family there or something. could be totally wrong.

wackyakmed - 2013-06-10

Enough of the snark, people. Each of us needs to come up with a way to make sure the brave actions he's taken haven't been in vain. I'm thinking about organizing a protest outside my local federal court. He's absolutely right in that if nothing changes as a result of these leaks we are proper fucked.

Oscar Wildcat - 2013-06-10

His personal story stinks on ice. The information he is leaking reveals little outside of the actual names of the programs. The actual issues were discussed back in 2007 and earlier still. Now all of a sudden it is important? Why?

BTW, the American People are by and large fine with this, Ed. I mean, I don't like it, and you claim not to either, but if you put it to a vote, you know what will happen. So what do you say to that?

One thing is for sure. Two superpowers are starting to tangle. Caveat Emptor.

Tasso - 2013-06-11

Folks are totally overlooking the real issue here- a handful of businesses control more than 90% of the information in the world, and they have no qualms about turning it over to US government without any kind of subpoena. AND it's all totally legal. Can you blame the government for going for such a ripe, enormous source of free information? It's stupid to think they wouldn't. Even your terms of service to these companies PERMIT what they do. Once again, life immitates Deus Ex- good job giving Bob Page the Aquinas Hub, dingleberries.

Is it unethical? Maybe. But the bottom line is people are butthurt because they let this situation happen, out of love for our information economy and the many conveniences it confers. Sloth and insecurity have made us willing pawns in a society that mirrors 1984, if big brother just read your sexts instead of torturing you then sticking you in a dingy cafe to wait for assassination.

As an aside, you all should REALLY read the NSA powerpoint about all this that got leaked. It looks like it was made by a fifth grader.
