I believe it, these will be used to test the clothing of muslims and abortion-rights protestors to see if it is bullet proof

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-07-12

haha that was my joke in the last PETMAN video.

Mother_Puncher - 2013-07-11

This is the most horrifying series of clips Ive ever seen in my life. And the sounds. Its like I'm looking at the beginning of the most horrific act in human history that hast happened just yet

kingarthur - 2013-07-12

I feel the same way. My mind went to the worst, most horrific scenario possible.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2013-07-12

What the hell is wrong with you guys!?

EvilHomer - 2013-07-12

Yeah, screw you hippies, this is awesome. It's about time DARPA got off it's ass and gave us our bipedal death robots.

Mother_Puncher - 2013-07-12

You guys are sick. This is disgusting and creepy. Only Hitler could love this. Are you guys Hitler?

Syd Midnight - 2013-07-14

Eh, we're safe 'cause they don't have the guts to attach real guns and let them hunt, because they still cost more to make than actual human killing machines. They'll probably end up somehow attached to a human, so humans feel like they're in control.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-02-18

I am literally not Hitler.

BHWW - 2013-07-11

Later, the 600 Series had rubber skin. We spotted them easy.

baleen - 2013-07-12

My favorite part is when the Terminator, I mean, the PetMan running with nothing on except green socks. I bet those socks got an A+!

cognitivedissonance - 2013-07-11

Well, now we know that Pyro isn't even human at all.

Nominal - 2013-07-12

Now make it shrug.

cognitivedissonance - 2013-07-12

now make it frug!

memedumpster - 2013-07-12

I guarantee you that as soon as these fuckers hit the battlefield, people will be shot by remote control based upon the following criteria :

The Three Laws of Obedience to Robots Controlled by Americans

1. A human may not injure a robot or, through inaction, allow a robot to come to harm.
2. A human must obey the orders given to it by robots, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A human may protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-07-12

That's cute, but humans won't be trusted with such valuable technology. There'll be a contractor-created software package that'll have an acceptable (to the Pentagon) accidental kill ratio.

I'd start work on a personal EMP device, were I me.

Syd Midnight - 2013-07-14

I suggest rule 4. If a robot is blaring heavy metal music, that is robot bonus time where the other rules don't apply and it can kill whatever it wants, but only once every half hour.

Spaceman Africa - 2013-07-12

3:32, imagine that but with our skulls underneath it.

SolRo - 2013-07-12

it WILL test out clothing, after taking them off your mangled corpse. (taking off a shirt is much easier after taking off the arms and head)

THA SUGAH RAIN - 2013-07-12

Well that's one efficient way to test clothing. If the alternative was filling some chemsuits with solid gold bars and throwing them off a bridge.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2013-07-12

For all the *horror* people!

It'll be very hard to make something with more dangerousness per dollar investment than a kid with an AK.

Petman is pretty pathetic atm. Did you see the wires coming out of him? He does not have onboard batteries or processing. Contemporary batteries dont pack enough energy per Kg for these kind of robots to be very effective.
As for using petman to test clothes, obviously they are imagining further applications like having a robot that can go into disaster areas and can work in the human built environment http://www.theroboticschallenge.org/
But atm all petman is useful for is clothes testing and thats what boston dynamics are getting paid for. If you want very good data for you clothes I would imagine it would be cheaper overall to use a custom robot rather than pay a man to strap a load of sensors to himself and walk for 1000's of hours.

EvilHomer - 2013-07-12

But can I have sex with it?

baleen - 2013-07-12

Ok, thank you Mr. Parade Pisser.

memedumpster - 2013-07-12

Nonsense.

1,000,000 dead Iraqis and 5,000 dead Americans? The war must end!

1,000,000 dead Iraqis and 5,000 blown up robots made by defense contractors? What war? You mean that cleansing of the filth from our oil? What's a few robots.

Mother_Puncher - 2013-07-14

I don't think people are reacting in horror to the potential of them used for combat. They move so naturally unnatural and the sounds they make. Its sick

chumbucket - 2013-07-12

$millions spent to see if buttons fall off, OK guys.

Scurrie - 2013-07-12

ha ha ha look out for the rubber lizards petman!

Binro the Heretic - 2013-07-12

Folks, it doesn't help put us at ease when you play that weird droning ambient music from sci-fi/horror movies in the background.

I don't think we have much to worry about, frankly. If they ever achieve sentience, they'll just seek out all the engineers and technicians who created them and shove them really hard while they're out walking.

"Yeah! how do YOU like it, mother-fucker? How's your gyroscope adjusting, ASSHOLE?"

Big Dog, on the other hand, actually looks like it's now using coordinated hunting to stalk prey.
