I've got ~67K from a PsyD. I had to abandon due to a natural disaster. I've got two BAs and I'm working on my MBA now, though my employer is reimbursing me for it.

I have a degree, a car, and property, all with no debt. My life is miserable, and I am slowly starting to consider that America will never have the infrastructure to actually force me to pay back a huge debt, and that maybe I should go back to school in as horrifically expensive way as possible, because fuck it. I'm thinking I'd rather live materially comfortably in debt. Debt free at the bottom of the heap sucks.

Being single and poor only sucks when you aren't social, and don't do anything besides work, otherwise, it's actually lots more liberating than you might think. I'm poor and don't do either, but I make it by hikkomori/grass eater style.

I'm a two year school drop out living a comfortable upper lower class lifestyle! Had i finished my degree I'd have a slightly better paying soul crusher of a factory job, and enough debt to take a couple years to pay off.

They know the economic realities that were relevant during their time.

I'd recommend seeing if there are any community colleges nearby worth a damn (i.e. their credits are accepted at 4 year institutions). Community college is a spectacular investment for polishing off 100- and 200-level classes cheaply

Word of Warning: there's a huge discrepancy between what 4 year schools actually accept & what community colleges claim real schools accept. The highest level calculus class that the local 13th grade offers is laughed out the door at UVa.

And while sports themselves aren't necessarily a bad thing, the economic and social effects of the industry behind them is. Watching that Paterno thing made me physically ill, not to mention the Stubenville case.

Oh right, education should be free, accessible, and equal. That's it. Hopefully places like Coursera and Academic Earth will continue to expand, in order to make such things possible.

College sports players should be paid, and allowed to whore market themselves for their own gain like every other not-slave human.

College book stores are also a cancer, just as bad as sports.

One can avoid paying for books at the college book store by either torrenting them or buying an earlier edition from amazon.com. Tuition being used to pay for sports stadiums or coaches' salaries is harder to avoid.
