One thing I've always observed about American right-wingers in general is this obsession with "winning arguments". You can "win" an argument by simply convincing yourself that you've won, or by being "technically correct", or by moving the goalposts, not by actually being right.

And of course, via the same smug anti-intellectualism that leads you to such trains of thought as "Do you mean to tell me that that bus over there will eventually evolve into an airplane? Ha, check and mate."

Is this how the typical black christian American feels about biblical slavery?
