The last 5 billion years weren't bad either, until bush

Right now, the Andromedans are watching us in anger, desperately trying to build a black hole laser to avoid this merger with the human galaxy.

gravelstudios - 2013-08-21 As an extraterrestrial, I find your reference to this as "The Human Galaxy" offensive and anthropocentric.
|
SolRo - 2013-08-21 How much value did your solar system lose when the humans showed up?
|
gravelstudios - 2013-08-22 I was lucky enough to refi just before, but it could have been bad.

it'll take 5 billion years, but we'll get our wal-mart and start fracking in andromeda

Every time we pass through the center like that, there's a good chance of being sucked into a black hole, right? Or at least bombarded with asteroids and comets. Though, I guess there's a good chance Earth won't really exist any more anyway...
:(

SolRo - 2013-08-22 not really. too much empty space.
radiation bursts would be a more likely threat.

Probably right about the black holes-- but I have heard it said that the slight perturbations of other stars' gravity on the cloud of asteroids way out past Pluto causes those asteroids to come careening towards the Sun every few thousand years.
Just saying, it seems like that sort of thing would be way worse as we pass through the center of the galaxy.

jaunch - 2013-08-22 Damnit, did it again-- the above comment is in replay to SolRo's above it...
(I wish this site's comment system was just replaced by Disqus or something similar...)
