This is why it is everyone's civic duty to punch any young person in the face who thinks they're too cool to vote because both sides are the same, maaaaaaayun.

The formula's pretty simple: vote for whoever can beat the Republican in the general election (probably a Democrat), and the rest of the time, try to improve the Democrats / Independents. Despite what the kids will tell you, a great many Democrats and Independents genuinely want do do what's right for their constituents and their country, and are amenable to reason. That doesn't necessarily mean they will agree with you, though.

All they seem to be able to hear is "sellout" and "traitor", no matter how much sense he makes.

I'd like to go on record and say i voted twice to try and keep this dick licker out of office. There are alot of people here in Wisconsin who get duped into voting republican because they think the dem's will fuck with their precious hunting and fishing laws.

Props and kudos to you, Scrimmjob. Over in Ohio, I voted to keep Kasich out of office, manned a phone bank in the weeks leading up to the election too. Seems Ohio and Wisconsin are in a race to the bottom, to see which state the Republicans can fuck up faster.

I voted against him twice as well, and he actually got his ass kicked in my county during the recall, for all the good it did us. The conventional wisdom was that a large turnout would mean his demise; I've never been happier to stand in line for ten minutes.

Later that night, I got really drunk.

I voted for a piece of shit president twice that stood by and watched amused as almost every Southern state governor lived out a Confederacy COSplay LARP all over the Constitution without saying a word.

Hillary's first speech better start with a sincere apology to Democrats, or I'm punching the first person that says I should have voted. America is not amusing, and its politics are offensive. The earth is sliding into darkness, and this country's slot machine democracy is not a solution, not even close.

I will gladly punch back anyone childish enough to think that because one candidate in one office didn't hand deliver them a their own personal unicorn, everyone should give up on democracy forever.

Bring it

When it is Voting Day, my dad makes sure that he's one of the first people to vote in our district, and he'll also make sure to call me up to remind me to vote even if it is a primary and I'm only voting for one candidate who running unopposed.

We are Democrats from Kansas, and if I don't vote, he doesn't let me hear the end of it. You vote on Voting Day or you shut the fuck up and get chewed out.

Even if it's that simple, I still have my preferences when it comes to garbage. Stacks of newspapers neatly bundled with twine are far preferable to garbage cans overflowing with diarrhea and used tampons.

With the Democrats, the problem is that they brought us the ACA but it doesn't provide quite enough coverage and it's not as good as single payer. With the Republicans, the problem is that their version of healthcare is to make a woman pay for the coathanger herself. Which problem would you rather deal with?
