They've been floating around the 'net since the days of Web 1.0; the most famous one was a short comic about a mom who caught her son jerking off to a porno mag, and decided to teach him how to do it right. For me, at least, they were some of the first truly batshit things I'd ever seen on the internet, so they stuck with me. I can't for the life of me recall the name of the artist; it was a really distinctive style, and many years later I happened across some of his other, non-pornographic work in... I wanna say a blurb in Juxtapoz? Dunno, don't remember that either. Anyway, I was like, hey, that looks like the punk rock incest guy! And sure enough it was. But now I've forgotten his name again, and it's pissing me off, and it's going to keep me up all night, not to mention ruin my Adsense data. (I'll let you know if I find him again)

Anyway, SolRo, I just want to stress that I am in no way defending Curt Sibling. That would be trolling, I agree! Mr Sibling is a bit of an asshole, and his work has far too much affected 3dginess for me. It's angsty and desperate, like a tweenage age Juggalo who thinks that swearing alone will make him "shocking", and thus worthy of attention. His art style is also far too reminiscent of others in the underground/pop art movement; it lacks "distinction", yet aspires towards an aesthetic that demands this quality.

That said, underneath all the eye-rollingly angsty bullshit, his work does have an underlying warmth and sense of humor. What's more, his art style, derivative though it may be, is no more derivative than that of any of the other prominent GrimDark pony fanartists (Apple.Mov's shameless aping of John K springs to mind). I don't LOVE Sibling's ouvre, but I don't DISLIKE it, either. He is probably the best producer of Grim-Dark My Little Pony fan work currently in operation. Whether or not you agree with his politics or his RAMPANT PONYPHOBIA, he deserves a fair assessment, and there's nothing trollish about me saying so.

Plus his human ponies are pretty damn hot.

It's not the bronies that have the problem, it's the.. I dunno what you call them, Titanies? Apparently the show has gained a large brony fanbase because of stuff like this, but the indigenous Teen Titans fans feel marginalized.
