How is Jimmy Olsen not a linked tag?
|
EvilHomer - 2013-11-03 So is Krypto actually a recurring character on this show, or did they just include him because of the Superdickery?
|
Bort - 2013-11-03 The Superdickery.

I think brave and the bold is a bit bland, but this episode concept is still fantastic.
|
Bort - 2013-11-03 The way to enjoy the series is, did you watch the Adam West "Batman" show when you were very young? I did, and as far as I was concerned I was watching some damn fine superhero drama. B&B is the show I only thought I had been watching with Adam West.

What I like is how it was all Silver Age goofy goodness-- and then slips in some visual shout-outs to The Dark Knight Returns!
|
Bort - 2013-11-03 Even a nod to JLU (punching Batman thru a building and then flying around to the other side to smack him to the ground, like Superman did to Darkseid).

Lois is an ungrateful bitch.

Just seeing all of those nutso Silver Age comic covers animated and acted out was worth it:
SUPERMAN (with Lana Lang at the beach, grilling barbecue with his heat vision): Serves you right for all those schemes you used to try to get me to marry you!
-CUT BACK TO PRESENT-
Lois (hastily): I have no idea what he was talking about!
|
Rodents of Unusual Size - 2013-11-04 Yeah, that was my favorite line, too!
That and Lois imagining superchildren made me laugh way more than it should have.

Right at the 12 minute mark, they make the reference. The writers are aware, and I hope this bleeds into all forms of Superman.

EvilHomer - 2013-11-03 Most of the scenes are taken directly from material mentioned on Superdickery, as well. For example, the opening bit, where Jimmy Olsen fakes a fatal illness:

Bort - 2013-11-03 And the various transformations that Mr. Mxyzptlk puts Jimmy through ... ? All happened in comics at one point or another. Turning him into "a guy marrying a gorilla" was inspired.

Buttermilk - the one substance impervious to mummy rays.
This will be important down the line.
