are we watching someone spiral down into madness? he seems to be getting more and more disheveled with every video

memedumpster - 2013-11-15

Petty theft, petty charges, and petty fines often require a petty followup. Maybe folks are submitting these in an order that implies madness?

cognitivedissonance - 2013-11-15

He's really going for the Cromwellian Roundhead look with that collar. I totally assume that's deliberate.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-11-15

He also has some climate change videos where he really gets a lot of his "facts" wrong.

I think this is someone who studied a lot of something and then assumes they're experts on everything. Like engineers who think politics, human behavior, etc. are exactly like mechanical constructs and if they're not then they're WRONG.

He addresses the matter of his expertise in his ad hominem video, and touches on it briefly during a few of his global warming rants. He does come off as a bit of a know-it-all, but he seems to be aware of the limits of his expertise, and at no point does he advance the suggestion that he MUST be right or that he's considered ALL the facts - he's merely expressing the results of his own observations, and (in theory) is willing to change his mind if someone can persuade him otherwise.

I actually like his global warming vids. I don't agree with his conclusions, but I do agree with his critique on the methodology of the global warming debate, and at any rate it's wonderfully refreshing to see a skeptic who has something more to say than "Durrrr, Jesus and Fox News, you brainwashed libtards! "

As for this one, I suppose I agree, in spirit, that prisoners do not have infinite rights. I also agree that situations like this - where the state is using an absurd amount of money on appeals for a relatively small matter - are ridiculous. However, I also believe that modern society is constructed in such a way that far too many people are becoming prisoners. Being extra-soft on criminals, and erring on the side of wastefully humane treatment, is the best alternative for a bad situation. If we want to fix this state of affairs, instead of trying to scale back on prisoner rights, we should concentrate on reforming the justice system itself.

Is it ridiculous that a bicycle thief could be given such a pittance of a punishment, and then not even have to pay? Yes. But if you don't like it, then you should first demand that Britain stop prosecuting victimless crimes and criminalizing social transgressions on mere ideological grounds.

So, you're saying he's a regular poeTV commenter?

Old_Zircon - 2013-11-15

Yeah, pretty much.

Old_Zircon - 2013-11-15

His video about class mobility is pretty suspect too.

sosage - 2013-11-15

I didn't discover him, so I won't milk it: but someone needs to submit his jam-circle rant.

It's like we've discovered Mark Corrigan's dream roommate.

Old_Zircon - 2013-11-15

Submit it! I didn't discover him either, but you don't see that stopping me.
