:27 cracked me up. As much as I dislike a lot of things about Steam, this was pretty fun.

Nominal - 2013-12-19

Typing of the Dead: Overkill for !

With Shakespeare DLC for !

infinite zest - 2013-12-19

Wow. I looked up some Typing of the Dead Overkill videos and it looks insanely fun. I love the Grindhouse motif as well. If it's available for Ubuntu on Steam, I'm totally dropping 10 on it today

StanleyPain - 2013-12-19

The add on with "filthy" language adds a whole new dimension.

RocketBlender - 2013-12-19

Have any of you played it yet? It's a shameful secret to admit, but I've never actually learned to type. If these games are actually as competent as typing teachers as they appear to be fun, I may just go for it.

Cube - 2013-12-19

Tired of playing games without someone making statistics of what you play, when you play and how?

Install Steam now!

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-12-19

How long has it been since you've played a video game? Or surfed the net, for that matter?

Cube - 2013-12-19

Not. Even. A. Minute.

giygusattack - 2013-12-19

I'm pretty sure Steam is keeping those statistics . . . but with prices like these I'd be CRAZY not to let them!

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-12-19

Hell, most everyone is. Any game you purchase, even from a big box store, phones home.

Steam does an okay job of not letting it interfere with actually running the game, and if I don't want to be advertised to, I just exit the application completely.

Personally, I find the user stats kind of intriguing. It's interesting to see what the more popular decisions in The Walking Dead or other RPGs are.

kamlem - 2013-12-19

Psst... _offline mode_...

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-12-19

That, too. Never needed to mess with it, though.

Oh, and you can disable auto updates and what have you (keeping your mods intact and so forth).

StanleyPain - 2013-12-19

I already bought, like, 10 games during their holiday sale, so now I'm doomed.
It would be nice, though, if they would actually go back to recommending games based on the games themselves or what you play instead of this bullshit that's cropped up in the last 5 months or so where ALL your game recommendations are literally just the same handful of games that are "big name new releases." Do you like Team Fortress? YOU'LL LOVE CALL OF DUTY GHOSTS! Do you like Peggle? CALL OF DUTY GHOSTS! Like Terraria? CALL OF DUTY GHOSTS!

Nominal - 2013-12-19

I'd be happy if you could just filter out all the shitty "early access" greenlight indie games.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-12-19

I just want to be able to have a button that says "remove the hundreds of DLC items from the titles on sale so you don't have five pages of 99 cent downloads for games you don't like or own."

StanleyPain - 2013-12-19

I like the new trend now of unfinished alpha indie games selling for and people being stupid enough to buy them. Apparently Steam is kickstarter now!

As for the DLC, on search result pages you can click a "type" option. If you set it to "Games" it just shows core titles.

baleen - 2013-12-19

I've already clocked 50 hours on Starbound.
That game is fun in its first two weeks of beta, but is only going to get more amazing, unlike Minecraft.

RocketBlender - 2013-12-19

Speaking of Ghosts, I love the way that even when it's on sale it's way too much. You see all these 60-90% off ads, and then there's CoD sitting at the top of the list as a whopping 16% off. That's not even a joke figure, they're that specific about it.

Nominal - 2013-12-19

They had an unfinished alpha to the spiritual sequel to Supreme Commander for .

oddeye - 2013-12-19

Starbound is a an awesome game, beta or not.

Old_Zircon - 2013-12-19

As someone who worked 7 years in the "recommending things algorithmically" business I declare it entirely fucktarded, and I would much rather see a highly sortable database of titles with user reviews than anything that tries to automatically anticipate my tastes.

StanleyPain - 2013-12-19

I thought Starbound seemed cool, but how good i the universe randomization? I keep seeing posts by people saying things like "I ALREADY FINISHED IT" and I'm like "how?"

baleen - 2013-12-20

Yes, there's lots of people whining about it being in beta and usually people tell them to shut up. It's impossible to finish Starbound because it isn't finished.

Basically there's 4-5 sectors now, and after you killed the boss for each sector, you have technically "finished" the game, I guess. But there's lots of things to see. The game is pretty sparse now, but the next couple updates will add more story elements, more things to explore, more randomization, even more items.

The next additions are currently listed at the top of the page, and they'll be super fun:
http://playstarbound.com

With those in place the game will be much more playable. Right now the quests end leading up to the first boss, none of the NPC behavior is interesting.
The look and feel of the biomes is sometimes amazing. The soundtrack, as well as the musical instrument stuff, is also impressive. It's worth the , let's put it that way.

:D

freedoom - 2013-12-19

I put my last Best Buy reward zone coupon into a steam card on the very last day of the thanksgiving sale. By the time i had input the numbers to redeem it the sale was over. Now i will get to spend it. Thanks for free video games Best Buy!

oddeye - 2013-12-19

Fuck early access bullshit.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2013-12-19

My backlog can't take anymore of these sales!

dairyqueenlatifah - 2013-12-19

Fuck Steam. And Origin.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-12-19

That's a bit like saying "Fuck Trader Joe's. And Wal-Mart."

Origin is demonstrably ham-fisted shit that makes Games for Windows Live look like a finely-crafted retail experience. If you don't like Steam, go with GoG or whatever, but it's not the devil (anymore, at least for your computing cycles/RAM).

RocketBlender - 2013-12-19

Fuck me! Now they're doing pre-order sales! There goes my holiday budget.

Deplorable - 2013-12-20

I have about 30 games on my wishlist, but I think most of them will be once again carried over to next year.

TheOtherCapnS - 2013-12-20

Steam Holiday Sale, or that week when I get to see all the games I paid or more for during the year going for -10
