Holy shit. I don't have any jokes or anecdotes for this one, this is just horrifying.

bac - 2014-01-09

What's horrifying about this? It's a well fed child in a clean house being goaded into swearing. I'll give you 'ever so slightly disconcerting' but on a scale of 1 to Horrifying. it doesn't make it past a percentage point.

memedumpster - 2014-01-09

Oh for fuck's sake. This is the same as redneck families, except these people have a nicer home.

Cena_mark - 2014-01-09

They don't seem like bad parents. They're not yelling or hitting the child. The media is just uptight about this because of the foul language used.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2014-01-09

Saying "fuck you" to a toddler is unacceptable.

memedumpster - 2014-01-09

True, they lack the adult understanding that will come in 12 years to know that it means absolute social alienation combined with violently intended disdain. It's a total waste of the words, but the kid will get it about the same time these cops shoot him for wearing a hoodie.

asian hick - 2014-01-09

So is calling black people "thugs", ROUS.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2014-01-09

yeah, given that the parents mention being thugs, even if jokingly, I just went with it. Would you raise a fuss if they were white and I called them rednecks? Well alrighty then.

Cena_mark - 2014-01-09

They're not saying "fuck you" in a hateful way. I know the language they're teaching him won't benefit him in the future, but its their language. Its how they talk and how they regard those words in that house that matters. Take away the foul language and nothing would be wrong with it. The parents seem quite attentive to the child.

RocketBlender - 2014-01-09

Being attentive automatically equals good?

Cena_mark - 2014-01-09

Its better than neglect. I watch the video and get a vibe that the parents are loving. Its just profanity goddamn it! Its not like they're fucking hurting the kid.

EvilHomer - 2014-01-09

Yeah, I'm with Cena on this one. The house seems clean, the kid looks fed, and you show me one parent who doesn't swear at toddlers every now and then.

Besides, it's not like this kid's going to grow up in a lilly-white world that's free of cussing. His parents are teaching him social skills that will prove vital to him as he grows older! What would people rather see these parents doing? Teaching their toddler to play squash, appraise Kandinsky paintings, and dance the Carlton?

Cena_mark - 2014-01-09

Yeah. Who knew we had so many easily offended and culturally insensitive Tipper Gores here.

bac - 2014-01-09

@ROUS
you know what's worse than jokingly saying "fuck you" to a toddler?
telling a child "I'll give you something to cry about" Even when the parent meant it in a joking manner it always still struck me as menacing.

Also I'm pretty sure the toddler called one of the adults a "bitch nigga" first. Just saying.

asian hick - 2014-01-10

You do realize a black family using the term is different than a white guy using, right? You're making a lot of assumptions about what I'd do. Even if I decide to take greater offense at racism directed at an economically and politically powerless minority rather than racism directed at the dominant racial group in our society, it still doesn't make the former right. That's something only an idiot would think.

memedumpster - 2014-01-10

Good news, outraged people, this little thugling has been yanked from his home by CPS, ensuring he now has a bright future full of opportunity!

Meanwhile, honkie mcCutshischildformagic still has his kid.

Well done, society, well done.

TheOtherCapnS - 2014-01-10

Turns out this kid actually was living in a pretty shitty situation (I am not saying being in the foster system is better):

http://bit.ly/19hm5Sg

For anyone too lazy to check it out, some highlights:

Because his mom is only 16, his grandmother was both of their guardians. Unfortunately, grandma was recently arrested on weapons charges (this is separate from the family gathering where there were both (presumably unsecured) firearms and little kids), leaving a 19 year old as the guardian of this kid and three others.

The 19 year old guardian had recently reported to a case worker that she was having problems with the person who originally posted this video. What kind of problems the article does not state, but...

The family had been relocated twice by the state because of fears of gang activity. Nonetheless, known gang members were still being allowed into the home and given full access to the kids. This is the official reason for CPS swooping in.

Why were they afraid of gang activity? For starters, there was the incident in October when the toddler was injured by someone firing shots through a front door...

In fact the kid's own mother states that CPS didn't get involved because of the video, but rather because of the home's history of gang violence.

Also, to everyone saying there's nothing wrong in this video, does that toddler not look scared to you? I'm no expert on this, aside from being the world's best uncle to two kids about this age, but I think he looks kinda scared. To me, his tentative body language and the way he keeps retreating to the table scream that he may know these people, but he does not like them and is pretty wary.

Also also, he may not understand what the words mean, but you can bet he understands tone and body language, and maybe we know they are joking, but they are using a faux-threatening tone, which toddlers can easily mistake for the real thing.

giygusattack - 2014-01-09

This instantly made me think of the video where the guy makes his toddler run beside his truck for football training. Nobody ever talks about the poor children stuck in the "Football Cycle".

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-01-14

Me too. Idiot parents all over. They're just filming it now.

M-DEEM - 2014-01-09

Poetv poll:

What is the shittier thing to do? Telling your toddler to fuck off, or making him "spill blood over his intent"?
http://www.poetv.com/video.php?vid=130121

Both are pretty shitty, but I say blood.

BorrowedSolution - 2014-01-09

Given that the toddler was a mite too young to really understand what was going on and probably thought it was a fun game;

Spilling blood over intent by a mile.

RocketBlender - 2014-01-09

I'd have to say the blood too, just because he's so lost in his own world that he truly believes he's doing something good for the kid, and that is so much harder to undo.

bac - 2014-01-09

Is this a serious fucking question?

TheOtherCapnS - 2014-01-09

Soul crushed for the day. Thanks POE!

bac - 2014-01-09

What's soul crushing about this? It's getting a small child to swear for entertainment. Have you ever fucking seen The Exorcist?

TheOtherCapnS - 2014-01-10

bac, you are having just as much of a knee-jerk reaction to this as the outraged media, but in the opposite direction. For the record, what I initially found soul-crushing about this was not only the video, but also the way people are reacting to it.

The media's reaction made it clear that CPS was gonna get involved, and lo and behold now the kid and his 16 year old mother are both in the foster system and pretty much fucked.

The cavalier, racist, pig-fucking Nebraska cops who gave us the video and its charming label certainly aren't showing any new behavior, but reminders of their mentality are always a little sad.

And yea, the video's also a little sad too. The fact that these scumbags had access to the kid at all just kinda shows that he's living in a shitty situation.

And yes, obviously I realize there are worse things (and I realize that him being in the foster system is one of those worse things), but that doesn't make it any less sad to see a reminder that some little kids have to live with shit like this.

Oh and hey, in case you are ever actually around human toddlers: please don't make them say swear words. It isn't burning them with cigarette butts bad, but because there are worse things doesn't make it a good or acceptable thing to do.

THUG CYCLONE DEVASTATES OMAHA

bac - 2014-01-09

This shit isn't even offensive in comparison to "Sparkling Wiggles"
http://www.poetv.com/video.php?vid=14086

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-01-14

I guess you don't have kids?

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2014-01-10

New evil story: the toddler was taken into protective custody

There is literally no reason for this. They are shitty human beings but they didn't physically hurt him.

http://edition.cnn.com/2014/01/08/us/nebraska-swearing-toddler /index.html

TheOtherCapnS - 2014-01-10

Down in the talky part of the article (after the headline) it actually tells us that the child *and his 16 year old mother* are now in protective custody.

TheOtherCapnS - 2014-01-10

Excuse me, not in that article, but in the nearly identical article from the same site:

http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/10/us/nebraska-swearing-toddler/

TheOtherCapnS - 2014-01-10

Both in protective custody, but not together :-(

http://www.ketv.com/news/local-news/new-details-surface-in-tod dler-cursing-video/-/9674510/23853822/-/10t0lqhz/-/index.html

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-01-14

I think that's a horrible idea. Sure, educate the parents, but to take away their child is so much worse for the child. Maybe the swearing just brought to light other forms of abuse though, who knows. I don't think we can be judge and jury without more information.

Chocolate Jesus - 2014-01-14

What a cool kid!
