It's interesting that just about the only country that's done good scifi sit-com humor is Britain.
Yes, we have Spaceballs and the banter from Firefly, but the only U.S. sitcoms in space I can think of is "Homeboys in Outer Space" and the godawful "Red Dwarf" pilots redone for American audiences.
It's also weird that after this failure, Kaufman went on to do the movie "Heartbeeps" three or four years later. Maybe being a robot appealed to him.
