genesis had such a good sound chip
infinite zest - 2014-03-11 Yeah right? With chiptune bands being as big as they are right now (I think Crystal Castles are still big?) I'd like to hear more music that uses the Genesis soundchip in popular music

EvilHomer - 2014-03-11 * the answer is Rhodes.

EvilHomer - 2014-03-11 I agree that what you do with your tools is ultimately the most important thing, but the fact remains that had that song used the SNES soundcard, it would have sounded much, much better.
You can make a Crockenspiel sound pretty sweet too, but that doesn't mean it's a good instrument.

Scrimmjob - 2014-03-11 Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
boner - 2014-03-11 most sega genesis games sound like mosquitos to me.
chairsforcheap - 2014-03-11 all i'm saying is this game and streets of rage... draw your own conclusions
infinite zest - 2014-03-11 I don't know how "big" Crystal Castles actually are, but if you hang out in a coffee shop in South East Portland for more than 45 minutes you're guaranteed to hear a CC song. That or Bon Iver. It's like the coffee shop's pandora knows it's in a coffee shop: "Van Halen Radio you say? Crystal Castles it is!"
EvilHomer - 2014-03-11 Really? Maybe it's a Portland thing, then? I have literally never heard Crystal Castles outside of my own MP3 playlists; I know people like them, but "internet" people rather than "real" people.
infinite zest - 2014-03-11 yeah they regularly sell out big venues when they tour here, so I've never seen them. There's a big noise scene here too and a lot of that involves chiptune bands now, most of which play smaller shows at video arcades. As much as I'm often offended by Portlandia for misrepresenting my hometown, they did get the fact that we never really grow up pretty spot on.
Spaceman Africa - 2014-03-12 If you didn't think Battletoads & Double Dragon on Genesis had the best title music, then just get out.
EvilHomer - 2014-03-12 You have VIDEO ARCADES?!?
infinite zest - 2014-03-11
Needs slap bass tag.
I remember hating this game.. I didn't have a Genesis but my friend did, but only one controller. So basically it was me watching him play for a good solid hour. Ironically I might watch this now, or at least skip to the end, but back when you're a kid, watching a slow moving slug-like creature move around on a rainy day is like waterboarding but worse.
Koda Maja - 2014-03-11 That's especially depressing because this game actually had a great two-player mode.
Also, tag added.
Cube - 2014-03-11 This was one of the most fun two player games, too. You missed out.
infinite zest - 2014-03-11 Yeah it looked like fun, but you know the rules. Friend's house, friend's video game. This is the same kid who invited me over so I could watch him play Final Fantasy 3 for most of the afternoon. :(

infinite zest - 2014-03-11 To make matters worse, in college we had a house Dreamcast, and it was really easy to get those "every NES/Genesis rom" .isos off the internet, so I got the Genesis one, and what was one of the few games that didn't play right? #FML #YOLO!
infinite zest - 2014-03-11 snake rattle n' roll didn't work for the NES one either, but I was already rockin' that shit when I was a kid.
