Ha! This is one of those man bites dog stories. Or cat bites dog bites man stories. Or as my 4 yr old niece said once of Junior "He has teeth!"

dairyqueenlatifah - 2014-05-14

That is an awesome cat.

Riskbreaker - 2014-05-14

Cat launch it's body against the dog, pretty damn awesome indeed

That guy - 2014-12-08

^ English, please

chumbucket - 2014-05-14

That kid was a whisker away from bodily harm.

fedex - 2014-05-14

actually his leg got pretty torn up

Adham Nu'man - 2014-05-14

But at least the feline saved the day, preventing a cat-astrophe.

urbanelf - 2014-05-14

A least the kid will have a ...

... to tell.

oddeye - 2014-05-14

Doggone it, stop with these pussy ass pun threads.

urbanelf - 2014-05-14

You know, "tail" and "tale" are pronounced the same way, but they have different meanings.

craptacular - 2014-05-17

I Explain The Jokes, you are not

memedumpster - 2014-05-14

The best cats are dog hating cats. Dogs are never prepared for cats that truly hate their species.

Bort - 2014-05-14

Clearly a false flag operation designed to win the cat some lunch meat.

takewithfood - 2014-05-14

Somebody give that cat a medal. An actual medal.

spikestoyiu - 2014-05-14

Hate cats, love this cat's mosh defense.

jreid - 2014-05-14

Fuck that dog. Also wtf is with mom(?) bolting and leaving the kid there?

RocketBlender - 2014-05-14

I'd like to guess that she told him to stay put while she gets some bandages or first aid stuff, but who knows?

Attack didn't seem that bad until the shots at the end. Go cat.

Sputum - 2014-05-14

Put that fucker to sleep and make a dish from the top of its skull for cat treats.

Leviathant - 2014-05-14

Based solely on the cat also going in that direction, I'm betting the dog was trying to come back around, and they were heading him off.

Bobonne - 2014-05-15

They actually added a note in the video based on comments like this.

The mom was actually running after the dog, to help make sure it didn't go after her kid again, while the owner was struggling to subdue it as well. She was actually attacked as well in so doing.

Not running away, running to deal with the continued threat.

Binro the Heretic - 2014-05-14

Good kitty.

oswaldtheluckyrabbit - 2014-05-14

speaking from experience: you don't want a cat mad at you

Enjoy - 2014-05-14

Dog lover here applying judgments:

1. The cat isn't rescuing shit. Cats don't rescue. The cat just wanted to attack the dog and saw a chance to get a few good swipes in.

2. The dog is bad and reminds me of why I hate defensive pit-bull owners. Even though this is not a pit-bull, the same horrible defenses are coming into play. Listen: some dogs, unless you pour an insane amount of training into them, are aggressive and dangerous. This dog is. Again: dog lover, but this pooch should be put down.

EvilHomer - 2014-05-14

"Some dogs" need insane amounts of training to BE aggressive and dangerous. Dogs like pitbulls, who are actually one of the most amiable and docile breeds on the planet, bred specifically to work well with and around humans, who only "go bad" through years of abuse and rigorous fight training, and even then are statistically far less likely to attack humans than many other breeds - their "bad" reputation being entirely the product of mass media sensationalism.

Of course, as a dog lover, you probably know this already.

Enjoy - 2014-05-14

You are quite misinformed EH. (Maybe from years of reality TV and facebook feeds?) Pitbulls tend to have a guarding and defensive nature. The mean ones aren't products of abuse but simply acting out their natural inclinations.

Hooker - 2014-05-14

All I know is, growing up in a poor area where people would get the whatever dog they most desired, not train it at all, and then let it wander around town as it likes, where it would often terrorize the 4 year old me, people should have to be licensed to own dogs the way they have to be licensed to drive cars. Fuck anyone that gets a dog (or a child, for that matter) and refused to live up to the responsibility of it.

Hooker - 2014-05-14

In conclusion, I hope that lady sues the shit out of whoever's dog that is.

Azmo23 - 2014-05-14

everyone knows pitbulls have locking jaws that can chew threw any metal softer than steel
also their deathray laser eyes are a natural phenomenon and not the result of feeding them ground phoenix beaks as is common in the pitbull
provided a pitbull never hears an angry word in korean they will be soft soft soft like cashmere kittens
of course, as dog lovers, you both already know this

EvilHomer - 2014-05-14

Actually, Enjoy, I am fairly well informed, having grown up with pitbulls, including both rescues and nonrescues. The pitbull's "defensive nature" does not mean what you think it means: pitbulls are naturally defensive around *other dogs*, and a poorly trained pitbull will regularly show aggression towards other dogs. Pitbulls are not naturally inclined to display aggression towards human beings, and in fact, are famously docile around *children* - ever the boogieman story for the sort of people who imagine pitbulls to be a kind of ticking dog timebomb, like big scary black men in the minds of gated community dwelling whites.

oddeye - 2014-05-14

"Of course, as a dog lover, you probably already know this" would be an awesome tag but it wouldn't work right with all those commas. Also the length, maybe.

EvilHomer - 2014-05-14

In fact, the *worst* trained pitbulls - that is, pitbulls just left to the whims of their own nature, with neither abuse nor firm, guiding love to teach them how to act - are almost uesless as guard dogs because of this. They scare the hell out of breed-ignorant people, but you're more likely to be licked to death than bit.

Adham Nu'man - 2014-05-15

Pitbulls absolutely DO lock on. Here is the evidence: http://www.poetv.com/video.php?vid=72780

Enjoy - 2014-05-15

EH: I trust you had a friendly pit. Right now I have a ridgeback and a lab. I have to be way more cautious with the ridgeback than the lab. It's not that the lab was trained differently. They both were raised from puppies. It's just the nature of the ridgeback to be more defensive and guarding. Why is that a difficult thing to understand? Pits can have the same defensive posture. The added issue is that pits are stronger pound-for-pound than other dogs so if they do get aggressive, they can inflict higher damage.

Oscar Wildcat - 2014-05-15

Actually, this thing made it to the BBC last nite. They interviewed the family, and the cat was acquired from the pound around the same time they had the boy. The (female) cat bonded with the boy, and would curl up next to him in the crib.

I'll admit, from my experiences with cats I know the males like nothing but a good fight. But in this case Homer, your fucking dogs tried to eat this kid and a cat saved his ass. You'll note how the craven dog runs in fear from an animal half his size. Dogs are so pathetic.

memedumpster - 2014-05-15

I think the joke is that cats aren't domesticated, just smaller thanks to the ice age, and the most potentially dangerous animal to keep as a pet.

Yet we question this not, for we fear them.

Oscar Wildcat - 2014-05-15

That said, Pit's can be pretty wonderful dogs.

Back in the old nabe in Brooklyn, the local Latin King's section 8 housing/clubhouse decided to get a new pet. Here's this thuggy kid on the street with his pit, a friendly looking pup. I see them, and the dog looks at me, and I'm sure you know the look... So I walked over, ignoring his glare, and started chuming it up with the pit. She was so happy for some attention. The look on that kids face was priceless. Sorry son, you're gonna have to do a lot more than that to scare me.

memedumpster - 2014-05-15

The standard attack for a pitbull is tongue bathing until surrender to love. Unlike cats.

EvilHomer - 2014-05-15

Enjoy - I've had friendly pits and I've had asshole pits, but even the asshole pits were at least acceptable around human beings. It's true that, pound for pound, pits are bouncers - a pitbull who wants to kill you probably will. But pitbulls are *not* naturally killers. They were bred specifically to work well with humans and work poorly with other animals; a pit who turns killer (which is an extremely rare occurrence; any pit attack is bound to make the papers, in contrast to the far more common "invisible" attacks perpetrated by other, less newsworthy breeds) is doing so, not out of it's nature, but because of years of cruel, calculated abuse. It takes a lot training to make a pitbull suppress it's natural amicability and turn aggressive towards humans.

Anecdotal evidence is, of course, just anecdotal evidence; you need not take my word for it, merely because I have had a string of great dogs. However, one need only spend a minute on DuckDuckGo to see that that expert opinion confirms my position. To the best of my knowledge, there has never been any scientific or statistical basis for the belief in naturally human-aggressive pits; expert opinion is unequivocal on the matter. For example:

http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/virtual-pet-behaviorist/dog-beha vior/truth-about-pit-bulls

(pay particular attention to the section, Are Pit Bulls Dangerous to People?)

EvilHomer - 2014-05-15

And Mr Wildcat, I am not defending THIS dog. This dog is an asshole who deserved what he got, and regardless of his moral behavior, a dog who cowers before a stinking cat is no True Dog.

He shall never know the glorious halls of Woofhalla, never cross it's milkbone bridge nor play ball in the great fields of the gods. So bark we all.

SixDigitDebt - 2014-05-14

And the dog now has an imminent appointment at Puppy Auschwitz for a shower.

Good cat.

Merzbau - 2014-05-14

I love animals, but god dammit, I hope so. A few years back a neighbor's dogs (who had free roam of the neighborhood) got into my parents' back yard and mauled my favorite cat damn near to death. He recovered, but had to be put down last year after developing a tumor in the exact location where he was bitten. The fucking assholes who own the dogs still haven't done anything, animal control refused to act, and the cops did nothing but advise my dad to buy a gun and shoot the dogs if they set foot on his property again.

Sudan no1 - 2014-05-14

You win this round, cats.

James Woods - 2014-05-14

"Hey! You can't eat him! I own him!" - cat

BHWW - 2014-05-14

My Cat Saved My Son...For Later :sudden close up of cat licking it's lips, a sinister gleam in it's eyes:

spicediver - 2014-05-14

The data on dog aggression towards humans makes a fairly persuasive case that dogs regard small kids differently from other humans.

Little kids move and sound very different to adults - and they are obviously much smaller. These factors can combine to awaken an untrained dog's stalking/hunting instincts which lead to an attack, because they mistake the kid for prey.

My guess is that is what has happened here.

As for the cat, well fuck me. I have no words. Just stars.

PS. No dog has "lock jaw" - total myth. But fighting and hunting dogs are bred to "hold on".

PPS. Bull terriers are not extra agressive toward humans, true. But when really physically strong dogs like bull terriers go wrong, the damage is so much worse. For that reason alone I think some breeds should be restricted.

exy - 2014-05-14

The best cat.

Gypsy_Dildo_Factory - 2014-05-14

Everyone who sees this is not noticing

5/13/2014 4:50:52location at what latitude and longitude are given by the time and shadows

time is 00:14 into the video on youtube:

Observe the moving shadow.

The only living thing that saw this UFO was driven mad and is probably getting put to death and cremated before its brain can be analyzed. Object was approximately 1 foot in diameter and it moved very fast.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2014-05-15

Another false flag operation.

CornOnTheCabre - 2014-05-15

I bet this is just another one of those Jimmy Kimmel pranks.

Caminante Nocturno - 2014-05-15

Cats rule, dogs are unreliable and unsatisfactory.
