I don't know that there are any cruelty-free smartphones (or dumb phones, for that matter). When my Foxconn demon phone finally dies, I'll be buying refurbished, which seems to be the only answer that doesn't involve eschewing mobile phones altogether.

It's about shareholders and corporations pursuing returns at all human costs; whether that be closing factories and laying off thousands of people who depend on the wage to feed their children, or overlooking working conditions that would have us all up in arms if it were how people housed their dogs.
