We've been discussing this guy next door (though it took me a while to read the article closely enough).

http://www.54evil.com/discussion/1118/mouthbreathing-machiavel lis-dream-of-a-silicon-reich

Apparently a fair number of scarily rich people seem to be rah-rah for this guy's ideas, though not always attributing to this particular paragon of virtue. The offshore hi-tech cities BS etc.

I guess I'll spell it "aohmmmm" -- the half-assed um-cum-laughter-break so many people who are so durned clever are so fond of. Anyway, however it's spelled, that would be a good tag.

Woah I've never seen 54evil until now. Kinda freaky to see the familiar poetv names like old zircon and such in the comments there.

Azmo23 - 2014-05-26

there's also the other poe-news refugee site bo-ne.ws, which is where I saw this.
too bad the diaspora persists

New Reform Poeism will never bow to a Bo Orthodox Patriarch!

Go watch the documentary 'I am fishead'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jxq7hiHi1cE

Should give you a good idea what you're dealing with.

Remember, that blog exy posted is right about being able to throw enough money and start ANYTHING in America. Moonies, Scientologists, etc. all got their start from lots and lots of money being tossed around.

I can only hope one of their libertarian city-ships gets taken over by pirates. Am I bad man for that?

Jeriko-1 - 2014-05-26

No, actually fuck it. I hope the pirates do that 'tightened leather belt thing' to his fat fucking head.

This guy refers to an academic rival as a 'faggot' and repeats this over and over to make sure it is no allegorical misunderstanding.

Please tell me this glorified 4chan troll hasn't reached billionaire status yet.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2014-05-26

I bookmarked that blog thinking, "Ah-ha, a real-life villain that might come in handy for a novel someday."

After just reading a third of it, I don't think he's believable enough. Not that I don't think he could do a lot of damage before he's done, should he ever get enough money/power behind his sociopathic schemes, but he's just such a complete cliche of the power-mad nerd. Usually he shows up in a post-apoc story where he keeps the meatheads guarding him in line with drugs and slaves until the female heroine (or at least, main character) is debased, brought to his chamber for some sexytime, and she pulls a Jabba the Hutt and brings an end to his personal World of Warcraft game.

Sanest Man Alive - 2014-05-27

Funny story: that's almost exactly what happened the last time a bunch of "independent thinkers" tried to start their own libertopia, waaay back in the '70s. They pooled their money and bought up some land in Africa for their commune (or whatever you'd call the equivalent for a collective of selfish idiots), and shortly after it got going, a nearby warlord came in and told them, "Nice land. Think I'll take it." Naturally they acquiesced, because they were libertarians, and fighting and dying for what they believed in was anathema. Sadly, the name of their short-lived wonderland escapes me now.

Azmo23 - 2014-05-27

by the description, I am guessing you mean Biafra
There is a Vonnegut essay on it that is worth a read

memedumpster - 2014-05-27

This Fishead documentary is really good. It would be effortlessly awesome if they didn't do every single thing possible to make you hate and loathe their cartoons and stupid fish logo. It's a bit grinding to constantly be logo cockslapped by this documentary every time you're getting into it.

Oscar Wildcat - 2014-05-26

Douchy canoe and Nozzle too.

Now THAT'S a reality niche off the reservation. Martin Van Buren, in an entirely different and sinister light.! WE'RE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS, PEOPLE! IT'S HISTORY!

memedumpster - 2014-05-26

I'll now vote for any Tea Party presidential candidate that vows to sign an executive order shutting down Google and all its services. I don't care what foreign dictatorship they sell their assets to, so long as it's foreign and we can use jets and tanks next time.

Sanest Man Alive - 2014-05-27

Just unspool a paper clip, stick it into the hole where the reset button's recessed, and hold it there for thirty seconds. It's not that hard, chinless guy.

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-05-29

Such a stupidly misinformed philosophy.
