Have been fascinated by Kiribati since reading the comedy-travelogue "The Sex Lives of Cannibals". You start reading the book thinking life on an atoll will be paradise and then soon realize how easily an atoll can develop an overpopulation problem.

You have nowhere to dispose of shit and garbage, there's no drinking water, it never rains, there are no mountains or raised land, there's no food other than fish and virtually no useable land for agriculture. It's pretty fucked up.
