Waaaay tappears at the oo many tit jokes, almost as many dick jokes, but the smart references to classic b movies are wonderful. I love that Tura Satana did the voice for the Varla Character at abut 34:12.

So is it good? I still haven't seen it yet, partly on account of not having enough time, mostly on account of not wanting to ruin my fond memories of Mr Zombie, who - along with Oderus Urungus and Mike Judge - was one of the biggest positive influences of my childhood. As I mentioned in a previous video, I rather enjoyed the Superbeasto comic book series, but, while I did like House of 1000 Corpses, Mr Zombie's stab at Halloween left me profoundly dissatisfied, and combined with all that skateboarding drama, I think I'd rather just remember Rob as he was. But if you recommend it...?
I will say that, knowing Mr Zombie, smart references to B movies are bound to be a strong point. He's very PoMo like that! I'm still discovering sources for references made on his albums more than twenty years ago.

One thing I'll say, if you're a fan of Zombie's albums, you might be surprised by the music, which is a long way from Rock and Roll, but I don't think it's so bad you should avoid it, and if you like MLP, it think it's probably up to your standards (but I don't get MLP, so that's not a promise.)

EvilHomer - 2014-07-14 I'm a fan of his whole body of work, most recent live-action movies excluded. His early music and his art mostly, but I also enjoyed his microlabel, which specializes in a whole range of music (mostly rockabilly and surf). That was actually one of the only things that got and my long-estranged father to bond - dad was a major Greaser, used to do radio shows and ran a makeshift hostel for touring rockabilly bands. He bought a few psychobilly albums produced by Rob Zombie, which was nice. So I guess what I mean is, I'm not picky when it comes to soundtracks, and I already know I'm cool with his art style.
(although just going by what few clips I've seen, this looks more in line with stuff like Striperella or Korgoth of Barbaria than it does with Rob's "classic" Ratfink-Satanic trippyness? Anyway, I should really watch it before forming judgements)

The big boobs and violence reminds me of King Star King, too.

I saw White Zombie in 1994, but I was already in my 30s, and I was one of the older people there to see one of the opening bands, The Ramones. I liked it, and even bought one of his solo albums.
I love the end of THE DEVIL'S REJECTS, although I found most of the movie hard to watch. Anyone who was alive during the late 70s knows what a horribly overplayed anthem Lynard Skynard's FREE BIRD was. It was incredibly popular to begin with, and then half the band died in a plane crash, and from that point forward there was no escaping it. The way FREE BIRD was used at the end of THE DEVIL'S REJECTS was one of the most beautifully ironic uses of music that I can rememeber. It was a glorious "fuck you" to everybody who used to drive you crazy with that fucking song.

Freebird deserved THEM. Or rather, the sleazy, sentimental redneck/stoner bullshit myth of the song fully deserved that kind of a send-up, making it the swan song for inhuman monsters.

I don't remember Freebird ever being anything other than a dusty old record in my friend's dad's garage, but ever since The Devil's Rejects, I've had a newfound respect for it.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-07-14 Seriously? Those characters were literally the worst people I'd ever seen in a movie. Even the Nazis in Schindler's List weren't so incredibly sadistic. Clearly, they thought their ending was romantic, and the movie gave us their point of view, but having just watched the movie, I felt a certain ironic detachment.
Back when "Free Bird " was just a song, it wasn't a bad song, but to a whole generation of dumbasses, it became a romantic tribute to immaturity. How many dudes were inspired by "Free Bird" to run out on their pregnant girlfriends?
