The US congress of Catholic Bishops disagree with you, sir!

StanleyPain - 2014-08-02

It's funny how climate change denial has backed the GOP into this weird little freak corner. 15-20 years ago the Pentagon could have told Congress that we need to prepare for an upcoming war with prairie dogs and the GOP would be falling over themselves to write a blank check to the military. Now the Pentagon says we need to prepare for climate change as a national security issue and they can't give in to that sweet, sweet desire to throw money at the military anymore else they might lose face now that they double down on this shit.

oswaldtheluckyrabbit - 2014-08-02

You'd think that Peter Sotos would be about the last person the GOP would listen to

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2014-08-02

I want this guy to be the next U.S. President. Not just because he actually listens to scientists, but because a well-worn meme could be used for campaign posters: "Yo dawg, we heard you liked executive buildings so we put a Whitehouse in the Whitehouse so you can President while you President."

EvilHomer - 2014-08-02

Anyone but Hillary at this point.

oddeye - 2014-08-02

How CAN'T you become president with that last name? It should be mandatory that he serves at least 2 terms.

oddeye - 2014-08-02

"Anyone but Hillary!" would be a great name for a no-doubt shit sitcom.

Bobonne - 2014-08-03

Come now. Let's be honest. Shouldn't any sane person's criteria be "anyone but a Republican"?

Even the most corporatist blue dog democrat would be better than the sort of person you have to be to be a republican presidential candidate these days, wouldn't they?

Five for the sort of democratic smackdown we've missed since Weiner Wienered himself.

Duty number one of all good Americans is to keep Republicans out of office. Duty number two is improving the Democrats, but we really, really need to focus on number one first. Besides, there's a good chance the Democrats will inexplicably "get better" the moment they're not dealing with Republican obstruction. (Just a reminder, we were only one non-Democratic vote short of a public option, and even then that was because Republicans filibustered the hell out of the ACA. And everything else.)

memedumpster - 2014-08-03

I'm going to flip a coin and vote for the NSA either way, because that's our government now.

Bort - 2014-08-03

So that means a 50/50 chance of backing the party that is also for oppressing women, the LGBT community, blacks, and Hispanics. Democrats are far from perfect but at least they aren't actively trying to destroy the country.

memedumpster - 2014-08-03

Calm down, you know I'll vote for Hill-Dawg, even if she doesn't wrestle a live bear. By this point I imagine she's right of Alexander of Macedonia, but who isn't these days.

I would argue that Obama continuing Bush's mass surveillance program has weakened us greatly and is destroying the country. It has sharply divided the left into what in ten more years will be the new right once Republicans implode entirely into religious bigots abandoned by the ultra rich. But, I agree, the party that's holding its head out the window letting its tongue wag and enjoying the ride is still superior to the party crashing the car into the wall. Obama didn't set out to weaken the Internet to our enemies, discredit all American tech companies, demoralize the citizenry, and put us all on a terrorist watch list, it's just a really great car, have you seen it?

I vote Democrat for the earth, as they will collapse the country more gently and probably not take the planet with us.

Long reign the Clinton Dynasty (because after she's out of office, no Democrat is electable).

Binro the Heretic - 2014-08-03

My horrible right-wing boss still rants from time to time about Al Gore and his carbon trading "scam".

Syd Midnight - 2014-08-06

I find Al Gore to be a convenient red flag, because the only people who ever mention Al Gore in conjunction with the environment, hell the only people who mention Al Gore at all nowadays, are right wing True Believers.
