Didja catch the short little homage to that game in the first Avengers movie? At one point in the NYC battle, Hawkeye skids on his knee under a laser beam, almost like the game.

I'm pretty uneducated on who owns what now, but Guardians of the Galaxy was pure fun and I know that was Disney. Days of Future Past was also really good (I won't give anything away but the Quicksilver scene was one of the finer moments in recent cinema I've seen.) I've only seen parts of the first Avengers and it does feel like watching someone playing a video game, but kind of in the best way possible. I'm all for darker case studies for superheroes though so I'll probably watch it in 3D and be legally high as fuck while doing it #yeson91 :)

I was actually worried that they'd shoehorn the Guardians of the Galaxy into this movie, but it looks like they dodged that bullet. I'm sure they'll get a forced cameo or something.

Like maybe Hawkeye is fighting killer robots and they corner him at the edge of a cliff, and it looks like he's a goner. But right then it cuts to a card reading "MEANWHILE IN SPACE," and then we cut to Starlord and Rocket Raccoon and the cast of Watchmen all dancing to the greatest hits of The Jackson Five, and Starlord turns to the camera and says, "AND THEN HAWKEYE DIED!" Roll closing credits.

Word was that the GotG wouldn't show up until Avengers 3 to help that team deal with Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet.

How does comparing it to Citizen Kane help to illustrate your point that it's "completely solid at ever level," I'm wondering? Do you understand what people mean when they make Citizen Kane comparisons?

Citizen Kane is weird. I've watched it, and maybe it's so much a product of its time that I can't really dig it, but it's effing boring.

The trouble is, it's already a meme as the apex of any video-ish art form, so I dunno what it would take to dislodge it.

Pretty much. I mean, there's great books out there that have really started to cross into the "Ye Olde English" category: They're read more for historical or academic value than for pleasure, as the language, pacing, etc. just doesn't work well with most readers.

I'm glad I read some of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales in College, but that's not something I'd read for fun.

There is an awesome animated Canterbury Tales series from the UK that I saw as a child, then hunted the dvd down as an adult. Every story is animated by a different person/team so they have vastly different styles, it's proper brill.

Fox owns any movie properties connected to X-Men. You can't even have a mutant in the Marvel Cinematic Universe because of that - so they came up with the idea of Hydra imbuing them with powers.

For the record, I'm not really feeling this one either. I'm more pumped for Guardians of the Galaxy II.

Yeah, I know that's the situation, I just don't get why they even bothered then. Out of the pantheon of Avengers-related characters, they seem like the least interesting or connecting people to bring into the story. (yes, I know there's a connection between Ultron and SW in the Ultimates continuity, whatever) I know Vision will be in this film somewhere (Paul Bettany has already been cast since he's the voice of Jarvis, which makes sense), but if they wanted to add some people from Hydra why not a comics-accurate Emil Zola or Scorpion (which would work with the SHIELD angle) or better yet....Crossbones since you fucking put him in Captain America 2. I dunno..I just think is kinda wonky writing.

I guess the whole Oedipus angle of Ultron appealed to Joss too much. Or if they won't be going there, maybe someone bad wants to use Scarlet Witch to do some major renovations to reality - which has happened in the main Marvel universe more than once.

I looked up the ironman suit in wiki, and turns out there's also a suit for fighting transformers...just imagine that CGI crossover abomination if it were ever made.
