This is really not bad. He's got a pretty decent grasp of the history. Sure some of the techniques are goofy, but he's just playing around.
And yeah, even great swords weren't all that heavy. The modern idea of hulking brutes hacking away at each other with 20 pound club-like blades is just totally false.

Old_Zircon - 2014-12-08 Not bad at all, but undeniably goofy.

EvilHomer - 2014-12-09 GOOFY LIKE A FOX.
Skalla's a great showman; he's less academic than Lindy or Schola Gladiatoria, but he really seems to relish his Industrial-club-on-Fridays/ LARP-field-on-Saturdays persona, and he's very passionate about swords. He's definitely more of a "beer and vidya games" type of nerd than either of his two main contemporaries, and he's got an immense amount of practical, hands-on experience with weaponry. He is neither a trained archeologist, like Lindy, nor a professional HEMA instructor, like Schola, but he IS a highly skilled blacksmith and builder-of-ridiculous-weaponry.
I've been toying with this idea of the three of them together in an RPG campaign: Schola as the stoic, serious warrior, Lloyd as the brilliant womanizing charlatan, and Skalla as the slightly insane Steampunk duelist. A graphic novel, a PnP module, or even a Youtubized miniseries.

EvilHomer - 2014-12-09 Or maybe give them a Top Gear style show, only for swords? Lindy, Schola, and Skalla are like Jeremy, James, and Richard respectively; I could picture that working frighteningly well.

So he's here to slay Lindy?
|
|
SolRo - 2014-12-09 I wouldn't.
Lindy would be whining most of the time about how the rules shouldn't be like this because blah blah blah

5:30 is pretty much what playing Dark Messiah of Might & Magic is like, except with less kicking.
