It's not a plea for support with his case. It's a plea for support with his *cause*. Chris' priority is getting Sonic's arms back to their original colour, and his primary concern is rallying the public behind his Sonic Boom boycott. The Gamestop incident was merely one battle in the greater war, and as far as he's concerned, it's a battle that will soon be over.

To somebody who follows CC more than myself, does he flip out over Sonichu Fanart with yellow arms? Because I've seen it flip-flop several times, regardless of the quality of the art itself.

Chris-chan will never get well enough to be off of disability claim and the trolls mixed with a lack of an actual, decent narrative of autism/asperger's pretty much sealed that in. The only take away is him winning a shopping spree

Which brings me to a question. Is there an actual narrative that isn't OCD/Lotsandlotsoftrains/spergtardraging? Because my most recent therapist I've had actually had a bit of a difficulty confirming that I had asperger's.

Seriously. The confident, outgoing asperger's/autistics are easily the most punchable, extremely tempting targets, but the socially crippled, shelled ones are considered unfortunate and/or diseased.

I grew up with a brother who's pretty low on the spectrum, and as such I've made working with adults with developmental disabilities a living through musical education and respite care. Being anywhere on the spectrum, like any diagnosable condition, means that you're really good at a certain thing. For example, my little bro seemed pretty lost until my parents enrolled him in an arts program and all of a sudden he is thriving. The same goes for what I'm doing with my arts organization; we have a student who never said a word until we gave him a solo in one of our musicals and now he sings and communicates all the time.

Basically everyone needs an outlet. For me, you couldn't get me to sit through a movie (even really good ones) without me getting fidgety and wanting to play pinball. But it becomes more like tunnel/portal vision for those who are diagnosed with autism or aspergers. For those high on the spectrum, however, that means creating wonderful things that I face-palm myself about all the time, like "why didn't I think of that?" The lower ones need some stepping stones and that's what I do.

That cut off too early. Basically, CC would be considered high on the spectrum, but since he was probably never officially diagnosed, or didn't have an emergence program so he became obsessed with Sonic the way I'm obsessed with writing and music, or some people are obsessed with getting higher up on the corporate ladder and some are obsessed with chiptuning, I could go on like this. Basically, it's training people to become good at what they enjoy, but at the same time teaching skills for things that you have to do but don't want to (like working at a retail store) and making it fun. Several of my former clients now have jobs that pay more than my own, and damn they're fucking amazing at it!

That is awesome. I've been told that martial arts also can help a lot with asperger's/autism. One of my brothers had the opportunity to do sports and martial arts and he seemed really quite normal, self-sufficient and leveled. Though lately my family has been suspecting lately that he does have Autism/Asperger's on a high functioning scale. The biggest bit is that my mother's side has siblings with low functioning Autism.

Do you feel a philosophy before the art program would have helped him or would it have held him back? It's taken me quite a bit of effort to distinguish what parts of the Mormon-Christian culture that surrounded me affected my perception of life and what parts were more just events in life.

And this next question is one that I'm having a bit of trouble deciding whether it's a general rule that applies to everyone or if it's exemplary in Autism/Asperger's. I live in a house with a 9 year old niece and the differences between her childhood and mine simply floors me at times. She has an extremely better perception of emotions in entertainment than I did at her age and has a lot more sincerity in her emotions. (I know that's a pretty dark and subversive bit to mention, but my perception with that is that the intensity is like the wrong way of progress to make in boot camp. You don't willingly ignore the distraction. It simply goes numb and you hate it more than deal with it and end up rationalizing it. Long wait for the question, isn't it?) Does it take them a while to find reason for their emotions? Say something makes them happy and they don't know why but they just keep doing it and doing it over and over and over again because they don't have a grasp of what part of it makes them happy but they do it despite the lack of subtle nuances in what makes them happy. Same thing with depression. It's not why they're depressed but simply that they are depressed. Not to say that they won't try to reason with it, but the first thing that hits them feels like a better argument than anything they could find later.

I forgot to add. What do you think of the thought that it's not lack of empathy but too much empathy? I think it does tie in with the boot camp analogy, but I feel that there's also an unfortunate trait of cognitive dissonance that plays in due to the intensity of the emotions. And now that I think about it, I think that may be the reason why I've always been hesitant and nervous engaging with anything deeply political or philosophical. I always fear that I'd go into a direction that I'd really regret due to an oversight and feel like it was more damage than good.

Aw shucks. Thanks you guys. The group I work with is music-based, but I've found that some of the kids share different interests (death metal, punk rock, etc. vs. the musical we're planning on doing (I can't say which one but it's pretty G-rated) so I'm doing stuff with those people who are interested in exploring other musical options, whether it's ableton or "metal guitar," I want all these options to be available like a musical kitchen sink. I'm kind of gleaning ideas from other NPs but come next year we will be rockin'!

If I owned a retail store, I think I'd offer all my employees a VR headset, which could be programmed to transform their place of business into an Alternate Reality world of their choosing! Like, instead of being on the floor stacking boxes all day, you could be be in the Green Hills Zone, stacking Sonic the Hedgehog Rings! Every time you slacked off you'd lose hitpoints, a constant tick like in Gauntlet or something, but you could regain health by finishing daily subquests, such as Collect Fifty Sonic Rings, or Give The Owner an Inappropriate Back Massage. We'd have leaderboards and teamchat and you could get bonus points or fun new Achievements by doing extra stuff, like skipping your OSHA mandated break-period (we'd call it "Poop Socking", and it'd be a mark of honor) or working as a Network Moderator - basically hunting down less-motivated co-workers who are engaging in petty infractions, such as checking Facebook or creating non-sanctioned Clans ("Unionizing"), and then narcing these rogue hacker elements out to the Supreme Game Master, me.

Well, maybe not, but nevertheless I fully endorse the idea of playing to people's natural inclinations, rather than fighting against them. Chris is who he is, and no amount of shouting "Get a job, you lazy so-and-so!" is going to change that.

I'm a martial arts instructor and although they drive me up a fucking wall sometimes, I've taught at least a handful of people on the spectrum (teenagers and above as I'd rather die than teach kids martial arts) and they usually do well.

Hey Orcs, I wasn't trying to make the thread about me, it was just a reply with a bit of advice, but this is also the 3rd or 4th video about this same incident (PS nobody answered my question about Sonichu's yellow arms) that's pertinent to Chris' situation but is also a pretty horrible reading so I think it's ok if people want to talk about themselves for a minute, and how they could put themselves in Chris' shoes, like I've done in previous threads.

A lot of Sonichu fans are douchebags, particularly the content creators, or so I've noticed. Not all of them, but a good portion.

This may be a controversial opinion, but I didn't even like the Audiobooks very much. They certainly had good production values, and both the music and the sound effects were welcome touches... but they lacked that masterful je ne sai quois only found in the True And Honest Videobooks (EH note - the Videobooks were the "official" Sonichu readings, narrated by Chris himself). The Audiobooks tried to straddle a line between ironic crap and sincere homage, but that can never really work, because no fan's attempts at irony can ever be as funny as Chris' sincerity.

I hope my own Sonichu tributes don't come off as snarky or mean-spirited; please tell me if they do!

... speaking of which, I just updated my tribute from this weekend. It's a bit outdated now since he posted bail, but whatever.

He did get violent, though. The details are sketchy, but I believe what finally triggered his suspension from PVCC was a fit of rage in which he tried to physically use his Curseyehameha against Mary Lee Walsh.

Also violent: his run-in with Officer Baggett, the fight with that black kid over a Pokemon game that resulted in his ban from the Game Place, and, of course, the time he and his mom ran Michael Snyder over with their car.

A Curseyehameha isn''t pepper spray, his run in with Baggett just had him struggling while cuffed, and it wasn't a "fight" with the black kid, but an argument. The car thing was just them recklessly fleeing the scene. This is different. Here he is leaving the store and just sprays a guy with the weapon.

Come on, it was a quick spritz to the chest with a mildly irritating spray that he'd half-wasted on himself already. I'd MUCH rather get sprayed than get run over with a car. In the end, this latest assault is only about two-thirds the way up the scale of how violent Chris can get.

And you know how brutal the Curseyehameha is! It can make your wife leave you and your kids hate you!

It may have been a little spritz, but when it comes to crime a weapon typically ramps up the legal ramifications. There's robbery and then there's armed robbery. There's assault and then there's assault with a deadly weapon.

Chris has been charged with unlawfully releasing lethal gas which means even the United States legal system is trolling his butt.

He'll never draw his comic again; the trolls have, as Chris puts it, poisoned his mind. They were his biggest means of self expression and one of the trolls' biggest sources of Chris-related entertainment (and that the 'Christorians' of the Cwcki forum who call themselves that to distance themselves from the trolls while still laughing at Chris), and the trolls ruined it for everyone on all sides.

Whether an act is or is not a crime, and how severely that crime is punished, is not necessarily a reflection upon how violent that act truly is. As you concede, Cena, it was only a little spritz; while a felony in the eyes of the law, it is not like Chris was going full MMA bouncer on the employee, and knowing his history, it's totally within the purview of Typical CWC Behavior.
