Second Amendment sucks dicks!

This is so amazing. I've loved Jim Jeffries before but this bit spoke to me. I have an uncle who has like 5 gunsafes and tons of illegal shit, 50 cals, AK's, etc. They have two little girls, and i need to show them this. My uncle also shot a deer in the head with a .45 while on a walk with his eldest.
oh yeah and one time i shot up a factory when i was 14 because we had access to literally 15 guns. no joke. in an empty house in CT on a blanket. Anyone could have walked in there cause the house was unlocked.... we shot up a factory. I didn't fire one bullet, but i witnessed it.
my step father is a gun nut republican/veteran Vietnam sniper.
he likes to keep a loaded handgun hidden randomly around the house to protect himself from marauding Mexicans. (drawers, in the closet under a folded jacket, etc)
they watch my stepsisters 3 year old daughter every Saturday.

Big guns didn't kill anyone at sandy hook. If you're going to push legislation that might actually save lives, the place to start is with regulating handguns. "
"Let's ban the guns that account for less than one tenth of one percent of all gun deaths, but leave the smaller ones alone, which account for literally 99% of all violent gun deaths in the US!" Brilliant.
If you're going to be knee-jerk about something, at least be knee-jerk in the right direction.
I'm not sure you watched the clip or took in everything said. The comparison's salient points were:
1. There was a massacre in Australia, and guns were banned. There hasn't been a gun-based massacre since.
2. Among the many massacres in America was one at Sandy Hook where small children died. The suggestion that maybe we should ban "the big guns," which are only a portion of existing guns, was met with zealous bile by half of the U.S.
Y'see, the joke is that even when we have several successive incidents where firearms kill multiple innocents, we won't even consider banning SOME of the guns, not even the ones closest to the firearms used by the military. That's called "irony."
Can you name a shooting massacre where the shooter DIDN'T obtain the weapons through easy, legal means?

The comparison between guns and slaves. For fucks sake, can you fall into any more logical fallacies? Possibly?
Oh my god that comedian said something not 100% factually accurate to make people laugh!
Maybe this is just me, but I think the parallels between the 2nd amendment and the 13th as presented here were:
- that the Constitution can be changed, and
- that the outlawing of owning something (slaves) has been done before, and that (like guns) a portion of the population objected, but it happened anyway.

Unfortunately, I can imagine a fair number of people who would happily sell a gun to someone with obvious mental and social deficiencies.

I just watched this special the other day and this is what struck me about the bit: in Australia if you ban guns then there isn't anyone around who can conveniently slip some in, right? Whereas America is in between two gun countries, so they'd still be flowing in pretty regularly, yes? I'm open to people telling me why I'm wrong as people often do whenever I say anything...
he never said the ban made guns vanish, he just said it made them significantly more expensive.
And it's hard to smuggle things from Mexico because all vehicle traffic is subject to search.
I can't actually speak for all Canadians, but I'd say that if America actually did ban virtually all guns, Canada would probably not be that far behind. The vast majority of ours are hunting rifles and shotguns owned by rural folks, we already have strict laws when it comes to handguns and anything semi-automatic or faster in general.
The whole 'Canada has as many guns per capita as America!' talking point is highly disengenuous. It's virtually all hunting rifles or shotguns owned in the singular by rural households for pest control or megafauna defense, and a few gun nut collectors that have massive collections because that's their Thing.

I just watched this whole set the other week. It is very funny.

5 stars for this and for leading me to the Oscar Pistorius bit in the related videos. "Crawling away like at the end of Terminator." This guy needs to be more famous.

This was great.
I kinda think his framing works for meat.
"Fuck you, I like meat."

So why ban private ownership of ANY weapon if the 2nd amendment is so holy and immutable? A modern militia would most certainly need rocket launchers and mounted machine guns to be an effective military force. Why wouldn't banning those go against the constitution?
The answer is because letting anyone own those would be fucking retarded. The need to own any semi-automatic, high capacity firearm for hunting or home defense is fucking retarded.
The two best tidbits I've read here in favor of strict gun control: far too many unrestricted gun ownership arguments come from some irrational fear or fantasy (Anthony Cumia literally thinks owning a gun is the only thing keeping Jeff Goldblum from raping his non-existant daughter), and that the first step to fixing a flooded house is to turn the goddamn faucets off.
If you want to get rid of the second amendment, the fastest way to do it is to to have a scarey looking muslim man/group of men sue the government for the right that he should be able to own military grade weaponry (tanks, missiles, jets, etc) for militia purposes.
I believe Gmork stated Trayvon Martin had a gun on his facebook profile in his defense for guns.
We sort of have our own local gun nazi right here on PoeTv
