If I ever need to explain who Nick Bravo was (since he's gone for good), now I have one convenient video to share. This is almost everything that is wrong with him in one video.

Thanks, I've heard about him for years but never really got it. This video is amazing in so many years.

The sad irony is, he's right! He *did* have ownership over his own life. He *was* responsible for his own reality. I don't think he ever fully accepted that idea, though. A lot of people thought Nick was a hypocrite for claiming that nobody else had any control over him, despite spending nearly all his time ranting about how Other People - bureaucrats, trolls, his ex-lover Happycabbie - were conspiring against him and dragging him down.

Yet I think it was more than just simple hypocrisy. I think Nick spent so much time dwelling on the power that he believed others held over him, because he _knew_ what a mess he'd made of his life. He couldn't accept the truth: that life was how he made it, and how he made it, was a complete failure. This video, like so many others that he made, is not a rant or a threat or a monologue, but a sad soliloquy in which two sides of Nick's tortured psyche battle amongst themselves.

I'd also urge everyone interested in Nick Bravo Week to check out the video "Finding Love at 40", currently stuck in the hopper (hint hint). It's one of his rare moments of honesty and candor, and many of the things he says - particularly about his mother's behavior, as well as his own fears for the future - should sound sadly familiar to anybody who's followed Nick's work over the years.
