Holy shit.

gravelstudios - 2015-03-16

I don't see how this is really evidence of anything, but it looks like they have enough other evidence and this is just the icing on the cake.

On a side note, does anybody else confess their deepest darkest secrets to themselves when they're taking a shit, or is it just me?

Adham Nu'man - 2015-03-16

They should hear the shit I say while I'm driving my car. I've probably "confessed" to being responsible for the Holocaust.

Scrimmjob - 2015-03-16

Yeah, it seems almost involuntary sometimes. It sounds like he's playing out a possible conversation, which is something I find myself doing constantly.

Meerkat - 2015-03-16

That's a technique I use to work out my own issues with other people, like I pretend I'm telling them what they did that annoyed me and why it annoyed me and then eventually I get all that bad shit out of my system and then the original infraction seems like not such a big deal in the grand scheme of things. So then I go out with said offender and have some drinks and forget about how annoying they are until the next time they annoy me.

Old_Zircon - 2015-03-16

I don't think I've ever talked to myself while I was loafing it, you weirdos.

Nah I'm with Old Zircon. That's fuckin' weird.

I just play Five Nights at Freddy's on my iPhone when I'm on the horn.

or check poetv. :)

yogarfield - 2015-03-16

I wipe my ass standing up.

Also, the sounds of an old man fumbling about a bathroom is almost more evil than his admission. Almost.

Also, did he steal something from the bathroom?

gravelstudios - 2015-03-16

@Meerkat: I do almost the exact same thing. I practice conversations that I'm going to have with other people when I'm by myself. It really helps me sort through my thoughts and feelings, but if anybody catches you doing it, you look really crazy.

PegLegPete - 2015-03-16

Read the guy's wikipedia page and some of the related articles. He was ACQUITTED after admitting to "accidentally" shooting a neighbor in the face during a struggle for self-defense. He then admitted he dismembered the body. They couldn't find the head for the trial, but found the other parts.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-03-16

WOW.

That is all...

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-03-16

oh wait there's more!

Apparently the letter that he wrote the woman he supposedly killed had the exact same word misspelled and written in the exact identical way to the letter that the killer posted to the police alerting them to where her body could be discovered.

How the FUCK could this guy get off?

PegLegPete - 2015-03-16

Watch the HBO documentary, I've only seen the first part, but it's... pretty incriminating.

I'm guessing he got off by a "special" jury (seems to be the usual) and his money/status. No idea. Maybe they interview some of the jurors in the documentary.

Old_Zircon - 2015-03-16

http://www.cnn.com/2015/03/15/us/robert-durst-arrested-new-orleans /index.html

This is the kind of stuff that if it was brought up in a brainstorming session of CSI writers they'd probably decide to to tone it down a little or the viewers wouldn't buy it.

Old_Zircon - 2015-03-16

NB he shot and dismembered that neighbor while under investigation for the disappearance of his wife, and the murder he's in jail for now isn't either of those.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2015-03-16

Also, when he was 7 years old, he was the only witness when his mother mysteriously fell to her death from the top story of their home. The exact cause of the fall was never discovered.

This guy's life story reads like a comic book supervillain's bio.

Oscar Wildcat - 2015-03-16

Oh yeah, this guy. He's a wealthy serial killer. He just pays everyone off when he gets caught, and then goes free. He's in jail again I see, but he'll be on the street again soon enough. Why are you all acting surprised about this?

Old_Zircon - 2015-03-16

This is the first I've heard of him.

PegLegPete - 2015-03-16

Your observation makes me think about the lack of direct and explicit discussion about a justice system and society that lets people like this off, while it executes people on flimsier circumstantial evidence in a heartbeat.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2015-03-16

Justice system, police and so on are the private security firm of the wealthy. Though it seems they operate on a sliding scale, the poorer you are the more you get shat on.

Oscar Wildcat - 2015-03-16

I first heard of him when a new report surfaced about a guy being picked up on a murder warrant at a convenience store shoplifting a newspaper and sandwich. He had 30000 USD in his car, and a few 100 USD on his person at the time.

Thinking about it now, I suspect he did it on purpose. Sort of like this mic thing. He enjoys baiting the police and the rest of us, feeling the thrill that this time he _might_ finally get caught, then the blessed relief when he buys his way out later. I'm sure he knew the mic was on. Listen again with that in mind. Plus the whole grunting toilet thing. It's a big fuck you, you know?

infinite zest - 2015-03-16

Oh yeah! I didn't read the original title. When I downloaded Olive Kitteridge commercials for The Jinx were still at the beginning. For some reason I thought it was a fake documentary or something, but I was pretty high on goofballs
