Probably because Steam has this really weird thing where they allow games with nudity, but it's an anime dating sim with nudity then it's not allowed. I guess they're paranoid about "you've got a friend in japan" crap flooding the service? Or how they don't want to deal with the legal shit of most of the characters obvious being under the age of 18?

I think it's more likely the game got rejected on "no dating sims with nudity" grounds rather than the gay factor.

Yeah, but you know it's going to happen eventually. I'm certain Valve is putting some thought into an Adults Only section, the funny thing being that a game like Hatred is going to do more to advance that than any anime dating game ever could.
